Matchmaker simply doesnt work. At all....

I've never posted in this forum, I've never had to anyways. Yeah we have had horrible matchmakers under the banner "we simply do +-2 tier level matches so you dont wait" over and over again, and I kinda never bothered by it, until today with was a really unbearable MM. So lets get to it right?

From the image [And from my perspective , the Hiryu CV] you may know where I am heading.

So lets see:

We have 2 CVs, one normal the hiryu and one premium the saipan.

Hiryu:
+Has a lot of planes
+Has more squadrons
-Has t6's planes in tier 9 match, where the average AAA of all ships excluding the 2 DDs is +70
-The speed of the planes is just too low to reach target, even in mass attacks. [Don't start, I would have never done that, the tactic here is to wait aroung 5 to 8 minutes for the enemies to be "AAA softened", which in this match doesnt works because of the t9 AAA rate, it doesnt get low enough for the planes to be able to attack]

Saipan:
+Has a fighter focus displacement.
+Has more attack planes in its bombers
+Has t9 planes.
+Can fly its planes on high AAA rate enemies without or with one plane loss.
+Dead squadrons are almost instantly replaced, there is no time penalty over a squadron loss.


So in this match,  the lowest AAA rate were from the DDs, and all IJN Cv captains know it is almost a waste of time to attack them, specially speedy t9s. In this match I decided not to send my planes, mostly because I didn't want to give the opponents the "clear skies" achievment, and because no matter where did I look my planes wouldnt even make it to the target, even "softened" targets with less AAA, the drop would be making a very optimistic calculation to 55 to 60 AAA rate, that would have killed my planes anyway, and plus the German AAA efective range of over 10kms out. No matter were do I looked, I couldnt make a thing, even using my fighters as spoters would have ended in them being hopelessly downed.

At the end my team managed to win without support, mostly because the saipan had the fighter focus displacement, and too many teamkills on their side. I did rant in-game [a little, I could not believe my eyes, and it was a waste for all the flags I used plus the +50%exp as well], and told my teammates I could not do a thing, and I wouldn't deploy my planes. Almost everyone reported me because I didn't want to loose my planes. 

For any Dev that is seeing this, I dare them to play in this Matchmaker [exact matchmaker] as the hiryu, record it and tell me I "was wrong" and it was a "playable scenario".

I was once a Ryujo in a T8 match. Think I wasn't useful? Guess again. In this match I see at least six ships which you could target. I have seen worse.

That's not too bad. You play to the strengths of your ship. 

 

Try a T10 match where one side has three Shimas and the other has three Khabs... now THAT is poor MM.

I see where you're coming from, but that's not an MM issue, it's a Saipan issue.

 

MM is almost perfect there....

This seems like less of a matchmaker problem and more of a CV problem (and a well known one at that).

So you threw a tantrum and became a dead weight on the team and you think it is wrong to have been reported? You seem like the type to just exit any match you deem "Unfair" to you, which in most cases I would say is a bad thing for your team... however your attitude may show that it is a blessing instead

You do know that HE spam will break AA guns, right?

 

And that over half of the ships in that match on the other team would have been viable targets for a T7 carrier even at the start?  You don't just deserve reports for being an idiot, you deserve a ban for wasting everyone else's time.

I miss the days of +3/-3 MM.

Back then, I felt like I had to put in a lot of effort in the bottom tier just to make a profit. 

 

Wait, did I read that German AA is 10Km+? Lol, especially at tier 7

So lets get to it right?  Well that MM you got simply wasn't that bad to be honest with you. You need to get over your entitlement issues before posting on the forums otherwise you will get nothing but flame from the forum regulars and any person skilled at the game

Distracting them, making them have to turn to avoid torps whether they hit or not is a HUGE advantage for your team. By not attacking them you show your complete ignorance of the CV class.

So because you don't completely understand how to play CV's you are going to not use planes out of spite just so they don't have the chance to get clear skies... Really???

 

and because no matter where did I look my planes wouldnt even make it to the target. So don't fully engage the enemy? Just the threat of a group of squads moving into attack is enough to deter enemies and provide help to your team.

As far as I know the Minotaur or Neptune have the longest at IIRC 8.2km. So please what German ship has 10km AA??  No matter were do I looked, I couldnt make a thing, even using my fighters as spoters would have ended in them being hopelessly downed. Not if you keep them out of AA range. Not spotting for your team is one of the biggest mistakes CV players make. keeping enemies spotted is the Most Powerful tool CV's have.... By keeping them spotted you could have helped your team immeasurably.

You quite literally gave your team a huge disadvantage the entire game by just sitting there. They were essentially 1 ship down from the start. Not including the fact that CV's can do the work of multiple ships. CV's have the ability to make or break a team. If the enemy team were not TK'ing and the Saipan was more experienced there is no doubt your team would have lost. As for flags it is your own fault for wasting them.... Don't use them if you are just going to sit there and do nothing all game. There are so many things you could have done to help the team even without getting tons of dmg from bombs and torps. I think I also saw a "don't want to waste my planes" comment and to that I say. Repair bills are a fixed cost. Doesn't matter if you are full HP or have 1 hp left it costs the same after battle. I do not know about plane repair costs after battle but you are already paying to repair the ship there is no reason not to use the planes.

 

Also your English/Grammar needs some work. No one is perfect but damn.

The longest range AA in this game is 7.2 Km NOT 10 Km . You have posted before as is shown by your post count . You were a useless player so of course you got reported ( "Oh my , my pixel planes will all be shot down ! What ever should I do ?") like any AFK would be .

You get no sympathy from me ; especially as the MM for that match was pretty much one of the best I have seen when I play .    :red_button:

When I began training Seagal, my Atlanta saw very forgiving MM.

Once I hit the 10point mark, MM kept me at bottom tier- esp during the Graf Spee missions.

Kinda hurt meh feelings there a few games, but the conclusion was obvious.

No power players with power boats as top tier.

- No, Saipan will lose a ton of planes.

 

A huge reason why T9/10 planes are so tanky is that CVs at those tiers get access to a module that boosts plane survivability by 20% (I think? Something like that).

 

Saipan doesn't have that module.
