to free exp or not up the ijn cv line?

on the tier 5 IJN CV right now, almost on the tier 6 but it seems that tier 6 to 8 will be brutal

maybe just free exp to the op Taiho? 

or just grind through the tiers?

Nope.  The thing with CV gameplay is that it changes drastically at T6 due to an increase in AA and you need to learn to deal with that as soon as possible.  The only problem with T7 in an IJN CV is that you are still stuck with T6 torpedo bombers.  Its a bit rough but perfectly workable,  especially considering your massive advantage over the Ranger.  Stick with it,  learn the ropes,  and save your free XP.

I wouldn't free XP that far simply because your skills will be insufficiently developed for tier 9 CV gameplay. Grind it out, learn how to play them properly. It'd be a shame for you to waste all the money only to find out you don't like the gameplay, or are just bad at it.

This. When I see IJN (or USN for that matter) CVs T8 and above W/O Air superiority...I laugh if it is an enemy....I cry if it is a team mate.

You forgot the flood of Saipans with tier 9 planes and supremacy skill which match your fighter squadrons in size and are vastly superior to them. It's very difficult to even catch up their planes, let alone be competitive, in the meanwhile they can do torpedo runs without losing a single bomber on most T7 ships ...

Nah,  the Saipan doesn't really bother me.  If I am running my Ranger as strike then I just make sure my planes aren't where theres are.  If I am in AS then the only thing I have to worry about are Saipan AS captains who know how to strafe.

He's not entirely wrong.  My Saipan can make runs on the Bismarck and lose at max one torpedo bomber.  T7 non-USN CA about the only thing that gives me pause is the Colorado.  Then not for long because it has mostly short range AA.  But air supremacy,  while it does provide a bigger boost for the Saipan,  is only really going to help swing the Saipans AS loadout.  Okay actually its also going to make its strike loadout wreck the Hiryu's but I am strangely okay with that.  But its still going to lose out to either other nations dedicated AS loadouts if played smartly,  and its strike loadout lacks the firepower of both the other nations.  Its real strength comes from its narrow cone on its torpedo bombers and its flexibility in having two squadrons.  Or if you are going AS,  the fact that you have a 1000pd bomber squadron of doom at your command...

 

So yeah,  he still makes a lot of assumptions.

Grind, grind, [edited]grind. Do not use free exp to do anything other than get the [edited]upgrades. 

 

Do not get into a high tier battle and [edited]your team over because you don't have the experience
