For those of you that got the Nikolai out of a Santa box, which box did you get it from?

I'll probably pick up a few more boxes at some point before the sale ends and that's the one ship I don't have that I would really like (though in all honesty she would probably be a port queen as I rarely play Tier 4 unless I'm doing something for some event)

I bought 5 Admiral Boxes when the event first started.  Got two Nikolais and an Emden.

Hope you get one! But do not make it a port queen if you do.. Nikolai is a monster and way to fun to keep in port!

I know two people that got Gremy and Nikolai out of $3 boxes while I was on TS with them. I took a forum poll a bit back and IIRC about 130 people Said they got niki, gremy or both.

Buy them one at a time with Karma Koin.  I got mine at Walgreens.  If you use your credit card, you will get blocked on fraud alerts.... pain in the rear!  I now have every premium in that list.

PCGameSupply sells karmakoin codes as well, and if you buy via paypal, I had no issue.

 

And when I finally got the Imp Nik, I was buying two to three $3 dollar boxes at a time, opening them, buying 2 to 3 more, ect ect.

I got it literally on the last box I decided to buy ... #112.

 

It was a $5 box... bought 3 Monday (the original "last night" of the event) - first was a Kutuzov, 2nd box was Camo, 3rd box was Nikolai.

 

You can get them from 3 and 1 dollar boxes too since it's a "random to a random" roll - however the 5 dollar boxes hit "Ship boxes" more often than the others.

Don't be sure about the $1 boxes.  I got my Gremy from a $1 box.  I bought a few sequences of 7 $1 boxes and 1 $3 box, and I ended up getting Gremyaschy, Nikolai, Molotov, Emden, Blyskawica.  Most of those were on $1 boxes.  I also got an Atlanta from a $5 box that I got. Obviously YMMV!  Good luck!

I got a lot of them from my $5 boxes, but here's the thing... I strongly suspect that like other super containers, you can't get a duplicate ship of premiums you own /at the time you buy the container/. 

 

For example, at the time I paid for mine, I only needed Gremy and Nik. And all I got when it was a ship was Gremy and Nik. I never got a duplicate of anything else, which was honestly pretty surprising.

 

With that in mind, if you are missing many premiums, I would suggest buying in small batches. That way if you get an Atlanta in the first batch for example, the next batch won't have Atlanta as an option, so your chance of Nik will be higher. 

 

That's just my guess though based on the behavior I've witnessed and what others have listed they got from a batch of boxes.

I think it was a $3 box. But i can't recall clearly, because I was too overwhelmed by hype at the moment.

I still think that the roll is decided at the time of purchase. Also, I have the feeling if you have ALL ships that you can get from the boxes, BUT the Nikolai or the Gremmy, your next ones will only be those two. I could be wrong on that last one.

 

Anyway, if you don't want to end up with duplicates, I recommend you try purchasing about 20 boxes of 3-USD in 20 different transactions. You're quite likely to end with the Nikolai/Gremmy after that, depending how many of the other premiums you get from the boxes you had before...

The roll is determined when you buy them yes,, however RNG also looks at your existing ships in port as well which is why when people buy a huge chunk of like 15 to 20 box and RNG finds you don't have a ship, thats how you can get duplicates vs if you only buy 3-6 at a time as the server verifies what ships you have and don't

Mine also dropped from the last $3 box I bought (to be fair, it was the last box because I was only trying to get this ship). It's an absolute blast to take out!

I did enjoy being one of a small few who still took out a Nikolai now and then, now I see them regularly.  Granted, with the KM power creep (surge) Nikki isn't quite the shocker it used to be.  Still very accurate gunnery, and still rare to get any form of AA or fighter assistance when being pounded by those CVs, which seems to happen more now that Nikolai awareness is way up.
