I am thinking about buying Campbelltown but I need your opinion and advice. I want to buy a new premium destroyer and if it's not Campbelltown could be Kamikaze or any other one. Suggestions?

I absolutely love the Campbeltown. For a tier three it's a blast to play. However that being said.........

Kamikaze. It's OP and likely won't be sold again.

Yeah, if deciding between those two, buy KamikazeCampbeltown is great for historical value and can be fun to play, but nowhere near as useful in game as Kamikaze.  Plus Campbeltown will continue to be available if you want to get her later.  Kamikaze will not be.

Kamikaze is much better ship. It's over powered.

I did buy the Camp let own when half off.

It is fun but takes some skill to play.

Have both, Kami is the one to buy, Cambeltown is always in the ship tree.  Both are fun,but Kami is incredible!!   Cambeltown guns are just about useless and when tiered up or in DD heavy games can struggle especially with the long torp reload time.  That being said, cheap fun on maps like Solomons with lots of same tier ( especially BBs).

Ok Kamikaze it is but where can I see the stats/specs of this dd?

Go to shipcomrade.com. You'll find the particulars of the Kamikaze in the Japanese tree. Click on the Fujin (Fujin, Kamikaze and Kamikaze R are identical... only difference is in the camo pattern).

Kamikaze, Tier V DD, 7 km range fast torpedoes, stealth of what the Minekaze used to be before the nerf.  Four slow turning single gun mounts, but that gives it 2 better than Mutsuki.

The Campbelltown was nerfed by the Royal Navy to make it a better escort destroyer.  It is a Wickes class DD with half of her guns and torpedoes removed to add more depth charges and AA.  It was used by both the Royal Navy and then the Dutch Royal Navy (under the same name) successfully accounting for several protected convoys and one sunk U-boat.  That was before they cut down the number of stacks and shape of them to mimic a German DD for the famous mission against the French dry dock the Tirpitz could use if it broke out to the Atlantic.  The Campbelltown was successful there too, she blew up real well taking out the dry dock gates, a bunch of Germans and their French girlfriends who were looting the ship thinking it had failed by just ramming the gates to smash them.

I just picked it up a few days ago. It's stealthy, terrific torpedoes, fast and fun. The only down side is no aa to speak of. Aircraft can keep you spotted without fear of you ever shooting them down with your two machine guns. Guns are slow turning and slow rate of fire but your torpedoes reload fast, 7km range and are fast. It helps to pre-position your guns if you are planning on using them. You can't just maneuver and have your turrets turn around like the USN destroyers.

I bought the Campbelltown in the tech tree when it was 50% (paid $4 in doubloons for it) and it was priced about $3 too much IMHO. I much prefer the Smith and Tachi, much more fun. If you are thinking Kamikaze or Campelltown, hands down Kami.

Campbeltown is interesting and fun from a "Difference" perspective.  It can stealth torp, all be it the torps are slow, they have a fast reload.  That said, it's a low tier DD, it's guns are terrible, and while I own it, I treated it more as a novelty in my port more then anything else.  It made a good trainer at the time when it was just Warspite and her in the british tech tree but now with the Belfast and multitude of cruisers her use has become more of "I'm bored of grinding, bored of high tier, let me get some low tier knife fighting in for fun"

Kamikaze though...  Well can't speak for the current Kamikaze but I've had the Kamikaze R since the Pearl campaign to unlock her.  If I'm not mistaken The R and the one currently on sale are the same ship, different paint jobs, someone correct me if I'm wrong.  So, just from my experience?  I've got about 61 games in her.

Get the Kamikaze.  It's a stellar torpedo boat, and while the Japanese DD's aren't known for gun performance, I feel the Kamikaze holds an edge in a gunfight versus other IJN DD's that you're likely to face.  But, like the other IJN DD's don't get in a gunfight with anythign Russian/USN or German.  Shells have a decent fire chance though so smoked up or behind an island you can cause fires and damage.

Where she falls short is an absolutely anemic Anti-Aircraft suite but, can't really say any DD at that tier has a AA suite that's worth anything really.
