This is yet another thread about what's currently going on at the mid-tiers. I came back after a 3-week break, and it's been worse than ever. There's no longer a distinction between weekdays and weekends, it's all the same. I wonder what's been contributing to this. Teams sailing around the map doing nothing, it's perplexing and really hurting my Nagato performance. I've played 24 battles in her so far, still plenty of time to improve, but with this current 'paradigm' it's difficult. A lone BB will get focused fired easily, it needs team support to engage and push up. In one of the games I played just no, the allied Fubuki that died 2 minutes into the match was berating me throughout the match for 'running away' and 'playing like trash'. The rest of the team was just sailing around, not doing anything useful. Had an AFK cruiser and a BB that just kept reversing between islands. I could not effectively engage the 3 enemy BBs (2 German) and 2 cruisers on that flank.

And the usual steamrolls, whether it's a win or a loss it's no fun for neither the greens nor the reds. I've also been seeing a lot of players on the enemy team constantly slowing down and speeding up again, constantly turning away instead of facing the allied team. In the end it's like hide-and-seek. I did have a few decent matches yesterday evening in the Nagato, but I got lucky. In a T8 match yesterday (Speedstang was there too) a couple of players on both teams were talking about sex and pornography. When I asked the ones on my team to just shut up and get in the fight, I was met with intense profanity. I appreciate that WG is releasing new content, but when it's always in the form of middle and higher tier ships that can be earned, it has a detrimental impact on game play.

It takes ~3-4 minutes for any of my teams to decide on a direction, let alone a plan of action.

Even if I try to lead a flank no one follows and if they do then the second any shots start flying towards then they all turn tail and run back into the ball of ships sailing circles around our spawn.

Exactly. When the turds on my team make me want to hang myself, yet taunt ME for being a 'coward', and 5 minutes into the match nearly half of them are dead..... In yet another match I saw this friendly CA at least 17-18km away from the enemy and he was sailing towards the CV for no apparent reason. He just hanged back for the entire battle and was at full HP. When I kindly ask for a plan, I'm either ignored, people only give their plan as an individual, or they bicker and bicker and in the end nothing gets done.

Always symptomatic of a game that's growing. You have an influx of newer people that aren't as experienced.

...but there's also the career potatoes. We'll always endure their presence.

Yeah makes me want to check their stats. I'd assume that a fair number of them have at least 3,000 battles. Granted I'm only an average to slightly above average player, but it still makes me sad. Shooting games have never been something I'm good at due to my frankly below average hand-eye coordination and situational awareness skills even in real life, plus I am borderline autistic. However, I've progressed from being red / orange to light blue and I hope to break 1250 WTR this year and get my WR to at least 51%, an average damage of at least 40k (and maintain it) along with finding more ships that I like to play. Currently working on BBs. The newer players can be forgiven.

Historically during the siege of Constantinople Sultan Mehmed II sent in the 'auxiliaries' before the regular and elite Ottoman troops. In the game if there were an inter-server tournament we'd send in these 'career potatoes' first, as bait, to give the impression that we suck as a server. Then, the average to unicum players move in. ^^ Not a bad idea.

Had a game last week in my Dunkerque, we all agree to take B and C, so I head to support (at the time) a few headed to B.  We engage, and once I engage in my Dunk I won't turn around (and expose its frail broadside, nope).  After a fierce fight, I finally sink.  Look at the map, almost the entire team (about 8-9 ships), are hiding behind an island at the border near A.  The one and only time I've gone off in chat.  They were all hiding, none were firing, most were undamaged, and going all different directions.

Quite honestly the worst potato team I've ever been on.

Well, remember that you can report especially abusive people that light you up in chat. I know some people think that's a childish thing to do, but it'll either adjust their attitude or eventually, with enough incidents, remove them from the game. Doing nothing just lets the infection grow, you know?

As for BB play... Good news! You're in an IJN BB. You're still really effective even if no one is willing to push, because your guns do just fine at long range. As a BB player, I tend to follow DDs and cruisers at the start of the match and support them. If they get blown up or we encounter a force that it would be suicidal to fight, I turn around and reinforce the other flank while conducting a fighting retreat. If they aren't as aware of a no-win situation brewing, that's their problem.

As an IJN BB though, you don't need to over extend yourself. In fact, you really shouldn't. You aren't going to come out on top of most brawls VS German or USN BBs. They're built for it. You're built for longer range than a brawl.

People (potatoes) trying to accomplish all these various campaign missions, I'm pretty convinced this is a good part of it.

It's the oddest thing, its as if some people simply cannot see circles or their teammates once they enter them.

High schools are out through this week.

Colleges may be out through the end of the month.

Don't expect any major changes in the playerbase until February.

Over the last year and a half I've discovered a remedy for the rampant losing streaks this game likes to throw at me. I just stop playing for a couple hours and proceed to get moderately drunk. Once I start playing again I find that I play better under the influence. As for the crap teams they seem to come and go in waves, so longing out for a little while tends to get you back on the winning side. I'm not even joking I can literally see the win streaks I've had while doing this on the different ship stat sites.

At first I thought it was just a fluke or confirmation bias, but its been working for over a year, so I just roll with it.

Indeed.  Lots of crates had ships in them.  I got more new ships than I know what to do with.  :)

I am glad SOMEONE did...  I got a single Emden.  Still, it is more than I had before...

Part of the reason is that a chunk of EU's population migrated to NA after WG gave them the middle finger on the Christmas events.  EU's meta is largely just NA's if it devolved further, so they carried their idiocy here.

Another is that some tasks encourage people to do stupid things.  Anything involving firesetting shouldn't be done with a BB, but some people are too stupid to realize that.

The rest is just spuds finally climbing to mid-tier through brute force.

In one of the matches, allies agreed to go B and C but ended up clustering and hiding behind the big island at A. Like seriously do these people play and watch AVs at the same time?

yesterday me and my div mate had a solid game we decided to build "the wall" with our shiratsuyus, had a friendly Belfast on shards go up and around A cap and sit(sail) around there for the entirety of the game, at the end of the game when asked by the opponents what he was doing he exclaimed F****!

I just got a new ship! Oohhh! Shiny! Wee this is so much fun! It has guns! It even launches fish!  Shards match. Agreed to go to B and C but most of them ended up clumping together at A while the enemy picked off the few ships that did go to B and C (including me), then proceeded to steamroll the bots.  Trident: 5 minutes into the match everyone was just steaming around in circles.   Neighbours: I asked which 2 caps to focus on, got "all" as the reply. Match was lost in 6 minutes.   Two Brothers: I asked for a concentrated push on either the east side or the west side, got "push both sides" as a response. Team split up equally, but the enemy concentrated on the east, killed us off, and capped the base before the guys on he West could even respond.
