DD size scaling

I know the whole scaling thing is to make DD easier to hit as part of the balancing.......

but, is it a little bit too much when your DD is just as long if not longer than the BB ?

 

This is how Akizuki compare to New Mexico............They are almost as long as each other =.=  (btw IRL, Akizuki is about 134m long and New Mexico is about 190m long. NM is about 46% longer than Akizuki)

Perspective is everything. 

 

Take a couple points on the ship that run horizontal across the deck and extend that line to the ship in the background. You'll get a better idea of the true size disparity.

 

On a side note, compare the Akizuki to a battleship developed around the same time and you'll see a bigger difference in length. Things got progressively bigger and badder as the war went on. Have a look at Dseehafer's size comparison for reference.

That's what 2x scaling will do.

eg: the 190m New Mexico at 0.2km away is the size it would be if the New Mexico was 380m long.

As pointed out, it's perspective screwing you over in that screenshot. Here are all the ships in the game (at the moment that thread was made) without perspective interfering.

 

Here, I made it easy to check the relative in-game sizes:

 

 

Which matches up with RL scaling.

The Tashkent isn't much bigger than the Akizuki (139m vs 134m) so let's just use it for reference. I cut/paste the NM and Tashkent from Dheesafer's size comparison linked above.

I always find it funny that this is the issue that people get upset about, but you rarely see any threads about the tiny hobbit houses that all the citizens of the islands live in!
