[Rant] Number of Potato nowadays is outrageous

*Warning: Rant ahead*

I have never been so annoyed by the number of Potato in this game. Not only numbers there are now all kind of troll/potatoes in the game. At this point I would rather have bots from Co Op on my team than those. Let me list some of examples that I saw recently in last 2 weeks:

* note that those are regardless of low or high tier.

- Cruiser which doesn't have torpedo refusing to fire gun for whole game

- Cruiser refusing to fire gun but to fire Torpedo only at a target which is out of his range

- USN/VMF Destroyer refusing to fire gun in a proper situation(no Radar, safe invis fire range, smoke, whatsoever)

- BB/DD escorting Carrier(classic)

- CV going cap

- CV sniping in tier 8+

- DD chasing Lexington or other fast CV in the beginning of the game

- Players pushing other players out from smoke.

- BB docking next to DD in smoke taking DD as shield

- IJN DD refusing to fire Torpedo for whole game

- DD ramming enemy BB on purpose in inappropriate situation

- CA refusing to use Radar knowing that a DD is hiding in a smoke 8km away and then get short range torped

....and the list goes on and on

I know It's holiday season(though I think it's nearly over) but even though it is now going way... I mean WAY too far. I'm not trying to be arrogant here that "I'm best player, I know everything, your ways are always wrong" -ish thing but regardless of win or loss just watching those human stupidity blooming all over the game makes me a head ache.  Basic logical human thinking is just missing. I'm trying(or rather was trying) to finish my german CA and british CL grind during holidays and to buy some premium times to help it but those things just demotivates me to play the game. In fact, I'm rather enjoying playing other games since few days in which I don't have to face potatoes. It is unavoidable to face potatoes when you play team based game with random MM, but it is really going way too far.

TL;DR: POTATO MAKES ME MAD

Sink them or otherwise give them a hard kick in the [edited] if it really bothers you.  They won't keep doing it if it draws ire from teammates.  Had a Mogami who was going only for torpedo runs get off whatever he was smoking and play properly after scaring him with a point-blank torpedo attack - they didn't arm, as was my intention.

Potatoes do exist and they do grow in number.

I have seen the BB escorting the CV. I have been pushed out of my own smoke by a bigger ship twice this week with bad consequences. Not even a sorry. Just go push and let them be killed, I don't care attitude.

the stupid do make up the majority of the game sadly, ranting sometimes helps me out alot but the negligence and the lack of awareness is astounding, alot of times it's like why the hell did he do that or is not doing this

I guess my stats make me a potato, all I can say is learning isn't easy. I played a lot of co-op to just learn my ships, switched to live opponents and discovered that fighting bots is really easy by comparison. Made many mistakes, bought some high premiums I wasn't ready for, yadda yadda.  Now I read the forums and watch the videos and try to improve. I don't troll people but I have been shot and rammed just like you and I guess that's just the cost of doing business.

I got pushed out of my smoke in edinbugh by BB.      the tiny UK smoke.  LOL.      luckily, torps were coming toward it and I left anyway and let him eat it.  :D       last 3 days have been quite bad for me.     decent enough wtr,  just bad WR. .  :D   yesterday was 36% WR and 1540  wtr.   lol.   the whole grafspee     grind seems to bring out the   spuds in force even at higher tier.   every match is usually a romp.

True. I mean, yes new players can be bad and we should forgive them. There are, however, who don't improve after few hundred or even thousand games. Like, what are they thinking? Don't they know why they are losing?

Funny thing is, most of potatoes I met played japanese DD or BB. A mutsuki who never fired its gun on aoba who had 130ish HP left, a fuso who reversed at the beginning of the match and rant "DD no cap", and so on.

Whats wrong with CV sniping? It puts you at a tactical advantage.

They'll be your targets as often as they are your teammates. It may not feel like it, because human nature is such that we tend to make mental note of annoyance more than victory, but it's the truth.

Also would not recommend firing on your team as an above post suggests, even if they're being bad. Regardless of how poorly they're playing, that'll get you banned. Would be a real stupid shame to have a player that knows how to play get banned forever because they tried to "scare" a bad player yah know?

CVs in high end matches have very high AA and will often eat your attack force alive, especially with appropriately specced captains. Not to mention the high AA you probably fly over on your way there, or the chance that the enemy CV is running an air superiority build. It's just not a good tactic in high tier games in most situations.

At least they are using the smoke. I have had ships drive through.  And as much as I tried on one smoke screen it ran out before I could get to the ship. They sat next to the smoke and didn't even try to make an effort to move to it.

Up to Tier 4 I do. Afterwards they should know better.

No it doesn't. CVs tier 8+ have high AA power and on top of that they have DF which last 2 minutes.

Even in lower tier game it is not worth it if you don't manage to sink enemy in a single sortie because it definitely causes to loose high number of plane and of course CV is furthest target which means you loose many time. Time=Damage for CV

Considering the first point I have to interfere.

When I am unspotted in my Mogami and 12km away from a Battleship which aims in my general direction I will hold my fire until I am sure that he can't hit me with his next salvo. For example I will fire immediately after he fired so I am undetected once he has reloaded. Overmatch hits Cruisers hard and I can't afford to lose 30k of my health just to deal 6k to a ship with a Repair Party.

For me tier 5 is last forgivable tier because starting from tier 5(or maybe 6) the ships start to distinguish from other trees and to show their characters.

Of course I'm not ranting here about tactical silence or concealment. I'm talking about stupidity not to fire your guns even though:

a) it's free damage dealing chance

b) you are spotted anyway no reason to remain silence

Well Myoko not firing at 9km against New York having turned his turret in opposite direction is not forgivable.

Also Cleveland not firing gun at 6km against Nagato is also not forgivable

T8+ CVs have 2-minute DF, not to mention godlike AA suites without it, and always at least one fighter squad from T9 onwards.

Plus, while the one snipe package flies all the way around the edge of the map, the other CV is spotting for his team and is on his 2nd or 3rd strike series.

Go ahead and waste your time; come try to snipe me and blow two-three regular strikes while I'm bombing your teams destroyers to bits, and maybe throwing a torp or three into your batlleships.

Have I been sniped before? Yes; has it worked? Not in an EXTREMELY long time; especially since I equiped my CV WASD hax, and learned to focus fire AA.

End game is different; by then you may be the only ship that can locate and/or attack the enemy CV before time runs out. The only other exception I allow for is if the enemy fleet splits apart and your strike can run right up the middle to attack a CV that is more often than not camped behind a rock.

All trying to snipe does is waste your time; which I don't give a flying flip about; go right ahead.

What I do care about is having to waste MY time dealing with such a stupid tactic.

This is just not happening in PVP, I believe it to also be happening in PVE as well, this past xmas holiday period was about the worst I have personally seen either here or on WOT, the amount of times that I turned off the game was many due to others that either refused to shoot their guns, fire torps or were Divisioned up with others and all they did was race around the map having their own private demolition tourney among themselves was by far beyond ridiculous.

The influx of crappy or trolling players is something that I think we all whether PVP or PVE can unite on and try to unify against, it does not matter what venue of the game you choose to play, when these things happens it ruins it for everyone.

Man up, prepare your shoulders, and carry. If you can't, then oh well. Stop focusing on the team and start focusing on what you can do. Make sure you're bothering to pull your own instead of complaining of idiots.

I can rattle off the generic DD missions , but I am I wrong to think that the guy in the BB should be giving some direction to me?  Do you want smoke? Do you want scouting? Torpedo attacks?

Thing is that in most cases it is not obvious why someone holds his/her fire. In case of Mogami the possible Detection Range of my ship could vary between 12.1 and 9.3km depending on Upgrades, Skills and Camouflages.

Another factor are other ships. Last game in my Mogami I held my fire against a NC because four Battleships would otherwise have perfect shots at my side. When I thought I was safe and fired an unspotted NC at that time opened fire and I was literally gone.

A potato is someone who doesn't have a clue, never had a clue, and makes no effort to improve.
