Best t10 destroyer?

Looking to start a destroyer line.  I've dabbled in the American and Japanese destroyers up to about t5 but havent committed too much due to so many options.  Iam interested in what everyone's opinion is of the best t10 destroyer is out of the four countries so I can focus on that line.

The BEST DD line in the game is by far the american, there is no bad ships in the entire line, all of them is pretty good.

But the best and most fun tier 10 DDs imo is the Khabarovsk. There are some bad ships on the russian DD line ( Ognevoi, Tashkent ).

 

Well, that said, the gearing is probably worst than the Fletcher, the fletcher is the truly tier 10 USN DD :p

Khab is very poor at Caps.. it just runs around going pew pew.. can easily be replaced by almost anything.

Shima can cap well with great spotting.. but doesnt handle well once in a gun fight.

Gearing - Great spotting amazing close up in gun fights and very solid Torps.

Gearing.  OK, so its my only tier 10 DD so maybe my opinion isn't the most valid. I will say I am very happy with the Gearing, seems to be a solid t10 ship.

Going by stats the Khabarovsk dominates in every factor. Shima and her Torps got nerfed into oblivion, Gearing has these horrible firing arcs, so I guess Khab truly dominates.

There is no best 10. But there is a best related to what you want to achieve.

I'd rather have a Farragut at tier 7, she doesn't give up speed and maneuverability for another torpedo launcher that a two-legged camel could dodge.

 

Edit: Also forgot to mention that Mahan can be spotted from the surface of the moon.

I have them all and Gearing is my favourite. It's the best at pushing and taking caps. It has great concealment, great close-in firepower, good torps, best smoke in game and access to the defensive AA consumable.

 

The Khab is only sort of a DD. It's bad at pushing caps early because its concealment stinks and it's a large target. It has the best pure firepower of any DD though and will kill any of the others 1v1. It really plays more like a mini-cruiser than a DD.

 

Shima and Z-52 aren't in the conversation in my opinion.

I play both.

 

The Khab isnt really stealthy. Its torps are slow and go 10k. In close, In a knife fight, the gearing tends to tear it up really bad. Its a pretty big target and resented by whole teams when spotted. Its more of a cruiser then a destroyer. Its smoke doesnt last as long as the Gearings.

 

The Gearing is SLOW! Without engine boost or a flag. Most cruisers can keep up with it. Its kinds squishy and modules get knocked out 3 or 4 at a time when fired upon. Outside of 10k, a Khab will just end the Gearing and its rainbow shaped gun arcs.

 

Either of these 2 ships is Better then a Shima.

I've got them all.  I play them all.  Gearing is the most flexible and balanced.  If I had to give them all up but one, Gearing would be my pick.

Specifically, it's #1 Khabarovsk, #2 Z-52, in every relevant category, with the Z-52 still extremely new with a small sample size which is going to inflate its numbers a bit. Need to wait longer for more people to get a hold of it to see where it will ultimately settle. Note that within those #1 rankings, the Khabarovsk has an over 12,000 average damage lead over 2nd place, which is about as much as the average damage differential of the #1 to #2 destroyer stats from T5-9. Combined. The ship is not remotely balanced, even in context of the tier being T10.

It's not in my opinion. Yes my Z-52 stats are better than my Gearing stats. But my "recent" Gearing stats are better than my Z-52 stats.

 

The Gearing's much better smoke and superior rate of fire give it the edge over the Z-52 in my opinion. Yes it's easier to hit things at range in the Z-52, but the Z-52 is also fairly easy to hit, so firing from the open, even at range, can be risky. The heavier armour also leads to more full-damage AP pens which are painful.

I've only played z 52 on test server, just unlocked tier 9 (z 48 ?) on live server. IMO the high tier german DD are superior to the other lines and i think over time people will come around on this line. 68 second reload on fast, stealthy torps. Amazing guns 4.0 sec reload is nearly as fast as gearing, and the AP is excellent, HE has 7% fire chance. Smoke hydro combo is very strong. Large HP pool.Detection is excellent. Fast. Doesnt turn as fast as others but hydro helps avoid torps.

Overall the best DD IMO, cant wait to unlock z52.

 

Funny thing, during beta testing people wanted the US dd shell velocity improved, german DD have that and more.

It really depends on what you want to do.  For the most part each nation's DDs tend to play quite differently from one another.

It's ten six inch guns fire insanely fast, and turn faster than most DDs.

I have all 3  3 of the 4 t10 DDs and yet the Gearing has always been the one I play the most. I just love it's versatility.

Personally I like the Khab betting than the Gearing. Gearing gun arcs are such a pain.

 

But if the Z-46 is any indication of the Z-52 then I may have a new favorite T10 DD. The Z-46 is a really good, all-around DD. Good camo, workable torpedoes and fast firing, low arc guns. And that German Hydro is icing on the cake.
