Matchmaker's shenanigans

I would have liked to use much more choice words to describe the match maker in this game, but they would have resulted in a forum ban... but I am so frustrated at this point it may well be worth it.

The dev's seriously need to put some more effort into this steaming pile of..... that they call a match maker, I remember having better results with matchmakers going back to the days of rainbow six and the original ghost recon and that was 16 years ago, with a smaller server size. I would be happy with waiting for any new content for quite some time if they could just fix this thing.

I am not one to blame it on the team most times, I try to always look for something I could have done differently to win, but damn it man, there is just no helping these teams I am getting stuck with.

Out of my last 22 games, I have won a whopping 8 of them, and considering the effort and actions I put toward winning, that is simply unacceptable, I only have two of those losses where I look back at the game and can genuinely say my actions caused, or contributed to the team losing. One in Gearing where I made a mistake that got me fragged, along with a top tier BB before the game even really started moving. And one in Arizona, where I could have held up several enemies at a less than optimal flag, but instead, I chose to try and trundle across the map, all the while taking fire and dying before I could contribute to the round

Other than that, all of my other rounds have looked like this....

At least one frag, most of the time 2-3.

60-125k damage depending on my ship type.

At least one solo cap, and one assist in cap, regardless of ship type... (Yes, even BB's)

At least 5 and sometimes up to 20 flag defend ribbons.

I have been doing no camping, fighting over caps, trying to cap or decap them, and believe my average XP during these battles being 300 above server average, even with this huge majority of losses, shows that I am fighting in the right place, and doing damage to the right ships to contribute to a win, but the team just folds around me.

With results like that game after game, I am fairly certain that it is not me....

And I hate to put it like this, seeing as it makes me sound like a whiny like brat, but it is really starting to push me away from the game, and that has not happened to me since Call of Duty: World at War. (I hate to admit playing the CoD franchise, but it was the big thing at one point in time.)

Several of those losses were with a strong division, using proven tactics...

I am begging you wargaming.... stop whatever else you are doing, and fix the matchmaker. You simply cannot build a truly successful game around a broken mechanic. Look at what happened to Battlefield Hardline. They released it with messed up, unfun gunplay, and the game flat out died before they could repair the damage.

TLDR.... Blow outs are not fun for anybody. They are infuriating for the losing team, and boring for the winning team.

I have to agree. MM over the past month has been awful. There is nothing like being the lone tier 5 ship in a match with 6 tier 7s.

Its not even that. Being uptiered like that is surely not as enjoyable, but I can still work with it.

It is the skill disparity between the teams. It always seems like one team is a set of pro's that play E-sports for a living, and the other team is in their very first round.

This game's Matchmaker does not take skill into account at all, and the devs have repeatedly stated that it will not.

Sorry you're having a bad run of potato-team-luck.  It happens to all if us from time to time.

It doesn't have to be skill based. Battlefield's matchmaker was arguably better before the introduction of a skill based mechanism. The system that they introduced in about the middle of BF4's life span seemed to just reinforce the blow outs, and made it to where one team was pinned in the spawn all the more common.

All they did was move the group of players responsible for the blow out from one team to the other, so instead of being a balanced and fun round the next game, it was the other team dominating. All of this being said, I am fairly certain that a group of high schoolers in "Introduction to computer programming" A half hour, half semester course, could code a better matchmaker than wargaming has.

I really do not care that losing streaks can happen to the best players on the game, that does not make them enjoyable. I would be happy if the matchmaker could get its [edited]in gear to try and create a balance where you go a couple of wins for a couple of losses, instead of 15 losses and then 17 or 18 wins... (in the case of a good player, reverse those numbers for a below average player)

I am fairly certain that most of us would gladly give up the ability to go on rampaging winning streaks if it meant not have to deal with getting stuck in shite team after shite team sometimes.

And what is even more infuriating about it, to the point that it is making me have to resist the urge to reach across the computer and put a fist through my monitor...

Is the fact that one of my friends it maintaining a better win rate than me, even though he is contributing less than a third of the effort and ability to the team than I am.

He will remain nameless, but this is what he has been doing this week... HOW THE $#%& does that work????

Not sure if that's worse or being the loan tier 8 CA (not Atago) in a tier 10 match which has happened to me more than a couple times as of late.

Twitch, you have more than enough games to know that streaks both good and bad happen. Just ride it out while doing the best you can, it is frustrating as heck but it will even out over time.

Know and accept are two different things, lol...

they could fix it for you and make it even worse

True... Knowing the way they have fixed several other problems in the past is to reduce it or remove it, and make something else ten times worse in the process.

I've had the joys of being stuck in high tier matches with my t6's.  Nothing beats being the lowest tiered ship on the map.  I just wish I'd get a bonus for tier differential... unless we do already and I just breeze past it.

Actually you do get that already, and it's for damage done to higher tiers iirc. The so called "spotting" mechanic where you farm XP from spotting enemies could have a better description somewhere...

I dont know about the MM in this game but in WoT its a joke.    I will say however that the 3 vs 3 match I had in nothing but tier 2 destroyers might have been the most fun I have had in this game yet lol.

You give too much credit for the programming introductory courses. lol

The courses only give a simple understanding of programming logic unless one takes the effort to further improve themselves through webs like stackoverflow, else what is taught in those courses will only be sufficient for miniclip games at best. :hiding:

But alas on the topic, i too wish that something can be done to reduce the likelihood of uptiering and RNG's love for placing us in potato teams. lol

And this is what happens when you put too much emphasis on stats and performing.

I will use one of my favorite sayings in Battlefield to describe this one... It is not fun to spend the game watching the kill cam.

While it is bad to put too much emphasis on performance. The flip side of that is, losing, or getting your [edited]kicked is just not fun.

wah, I'm so much better then my teammates, why do I have to play with baddies.....

Carry harder

Pfft elitism is so bad on WG's forums that idiots like this talk like this to other people,  but have bot like stats themselves.  So even non elitists can get in on the act?  Yay.  Save your trollish reply that means nothing,  adds nothing,  is nothing to the thread.

Sure the guys ranting an theres nothing anyone can do about it other than WG who seems to not care about fixing their borked MM in all 3 games,  WoT, WoWP an WoWS.  WoWP is dead which sucks an unbelievable to me but I guess that doesn't matter as it's all bots so I dont play it as much.

WoT especially has the worst MM of the 3 games.  I dont think it is so bad in WoWS though but i only play up to tier 5 for now.  It might get worse knowing WG.

Yes everybody should play to have fun, but there are quite a few people, to whom winning and having fun go hand in hand. Its just part of being competitive. I am one of those... even though in this game, my stats may be just above average, I am always trying, trying to win, trying to improve.

It really irks me to no end, when I get stuck with those who have no desire to do either, they are just skating along and dragging others down with them. I am sitting here trying my heart out to win, and they could care less.

And I am necro-ing my own thread... As it continues.

I figured everything would get better after the holiday season was over. But I still cannot buy a win to save my life right now. It has me frustrated to the point that... I don't even know what. It is bordering outright rage for me.

I feel like I am playing better and making more impactful decisions on the match. Doing more damage, doing that damage in the right place at the right time. Capping points, capturing the right points. Just overall being a team player, with every action I attempt to perform only having one goal in mind, winning the match.

And yet... My win rate plummets like a rock. I seem to have hit a wall. I hit that 53% mark, and it seems like everything that can hold me back is trying to hold me back. No matter the ship I chose, Divisioned or not. Even with a division of skilled players, using tactics explicitly designed to win matches. I CAN'T WIN. And quite frankly I am tired of it. Two weeks of constant losses, that is stretching into three is getting really old.

What the.... is going wrong????
