Okay, so who got awesome Christmas presents this year?  I for one received an incredible gaming PC build from my son and wife.

i5 processor (sorry, don't have more details)

16GB RAM

1070 graphics card

125GB SSD

2TB hard drive

24" Dell monitor

Logitech MX Master Mouse

Razor Blackwidow mechanical gaming keyboard

Logitech G230 headset

And the best part of all is that I no longer have to play on my 13" Macbook, which because it lacks an actual graphics card I could only play on the lowest graphics settings!

V-sync locks MAX FPS to monitor Refresh rate. WOWs is capped at 75 FPS in the config file. If you want more FPS you have to change that number. c:/games/world_of_warships_/res/engine_config

And I'd need a young man's eyes to appreciate it :look:

And a faster refresh rate on your monitor than 60hz.

But you would be amazed at was faster framerates give you. Smoothness alone, is amazing.

I don't recommend turning off vsync as the tearing gets really bad. He's better off getting a monitor with more hertz or one that uses G-sync.

The monitor I have on the way is freesync, which is AMD's version. It will push the hertz to 75 and helps smooth the tearing.

Yeah bumped my 144hz G-sync up to a 140 frame cap. No real issues.

I'd be curious to see OP what your original computer was, to see how much of an upgrade it was

I was using a 13" Macbook with no graphics card.  I was regularly getting sub 30 FPS with low graphics settings.  While I am grateful for the Mac wrapper, the game would routinely crash after 5-6 games so I would need to logout and restart the game periodically, I never did find a way to enable replays (but also did not have the storage capacity), and could not utilize any of Aslans mods.  Visually it is very much like playing a different game.

Wow that is definitely a major upgrade. It must be night and day for you.

You have a problem though! Once you see the graphics and fps you'll never go back! :D

Same here.

Core I7 with the 1070 installed.   16gb main memory.   Updating is sooooooo fast now.

loading 8 minutes into the match, just as I'm getting sunk.   Not anymore.

and the graphics at high are simply stunning.   there's so much detail on the maps that I could never see.

Not just the graphics and FPS, but going from a 13" laptop to a 24" monitor along with the MX Master mouse which I have configured so I can change targets and use consumables (except for the occasional need for "U" on my Takao) without a keyboard...yeah, won't be eager to play in the family room on my laptop while my wife watches TV.
