as we all know WG wishes for WoWs to succeed like WoT.. so eventually they will run out of ideas for CV's, BB's, CL/CA's, and DD's What do you guys think would be an acceptable class to introduce??  perhaps early tech tree ships? and some later tech tree ships? mid tier corvette's?

With the current pace of 4 lines a year there is material well beyond 2020... No risk to run out of ships. Eg.

- British Battleships

- British Battlecruisers

- British Destroyers

- British Carriers

- German Battlecruisers

- French Battleships

- French Cruisers

- French Destroyers

- Italian Battleships

- Italian Cruisers

- Italian Destroyers

That would be sufficient until end 2019. And then you still have partial lines to do, such as;

- US cruiser split CA/CL

- German cruiser split / Panzercruisers

- IJN cruiser split

- US carrier line split

- IJN carrier split (conversions line incl Akagi, Kaga, Shinano, etc)

- small British heavy cruiser subbranch

- etc

I don't think we run out of new content anytime soon, in case we do I am sure there are still plenty of Russian napkin drawings to be added ;-)

Tech tree splits are going to be needed to add more ships beyond a certain point. And in many cases a line split would involve nothing but adding new ships. The only line split that would require any significant changes to existing ships would be USN cruisers, and those should largely be buffs rather than nerfs.

Quite right. WG seem to have been more careful recently to build lines which can just have a side tree bolted on. RN CL - All 6in cruisers. KM BB - no HSF BB.

We'll see how they add these upcoming Cold War VMF DD's... Just bolted on from Tashkent or a re-organize.

I think the original question was about new types rather than lines. The question raised corvettes which wouldn't work in game, being undergunned and underarmed at even T1. Similarly a whole raft of escort ship types would be out.

Maybe Destroyer Escorts over a couple of lowish tiers are possible, say T3-T4. I'd keep them as DD for matchmaking purposes though.

Extending downwards to do something better with pre-Dreadnoughts and armored cruisers I think would have to be a side-game, perhaps one with manual secondaries. Currently Mikasa makes sad use of all pre-Dreadnoughts and her abject performance demonstrates how they don't work in-game.

Torpedo boat tenders have been bought up, a bad idea. I also doubt we'll see any kind of Auxiliaries in anything other than a convoy PPE mode.

Partial manual secondaries could be possible in WOWS, with switching between 2 gun calibers in the same way we now switch between aiming the guns and the torps on DDs and (some) CLs. And I hope someday the devs do that. The advantage of a side game for such ships is that there'd be multiple tiers to put them and thus multiple generations of them could be included.

As far as armored cruisers, I'm just hoping we get ones like Blucher, Edgar Quinet and Monmouth that had a single-caliber main armament and thus avoid the Mikasa problem entirely. Just too bad the Scharnhorst and Gneisenau names are both already in use since the Scharnhorst class armored cruisers were another example that would work just fine in the game as-is.
