Bounced shots cause shooter to ragequit

This past evening, I played a game in my Bayern. Near the end of the game, I was 1v1 chasing a König. Everytime he shot at me, I angled the Bayern and bounced all of his shots. This happened for about 5 times and then all of a sudden, the König stopped and the turrets went into "stowed" position. My teammates and I had a nice time laughing at him ragequitting.

I'd just start shooting HE. And even then, I usually don't have a problem getting damage out of angled opponents. I can usually still scrape 3k or 4k a salvo. HE is less reliable in doing that, especially if you fail to start fires or the fires are immediately put out.

I had a game awhile back where I shot some Nurnberg with my Biscuit right at the beginning of a match, C cap Hotspot. Got two citadels and erased most of his hp. When he popped back into view again he was stationary and his turrets were centerline - he must've quit back to port from getting that screwed early on. Felt kinda bad.

Did that to an ARP Myoko once on Two Brothers with a Warspite. He came around the NE corner of the east iland, I put guns on and made a shot, and he just blew up.

 

My first shot and he didn't even get to shoot... Apologized in chat for that one...

The very first ship I ever bought was the Texas.  And I don't even really play BBs.  I mean, I play my ARP Kongos from time to time and I just got an Ishizuchi for Shipsmas but I am still grinding CA's to my first Tier X - halfway there in the Ibuki.

 

That said, I take the Texas out for the very first time.  It's Trident and the battle has hardly started and our contact is with an Aoba that's running for cover, flat and straight.  Those who could open up but miss him and it looks like he's going to escape and live to fight on.  So, after I get my guns swiveled to shoot I take aim and let fly as he disappears behind an island that might not be quite tall enough for my freedom arcs of US artillery.  

 

The salvo drops in and he is instantly vaporized.  Not a detonation - I just made a good roll and landed a ton of shells on him.  

 

He screams an enraged "wth??? and are you [edited]ing serious???" into all chat.  

 

I congratulated him on being my first kill with the first salvo I had ever fired from my new Texas and gave him the o7.

 

He hurls some more choice invective at the universe into the all chat.  It was glorious.

 

I know the feeling.  Being in my Aoba, shots aren't finding me but they will and I'm almost safe if I can just get behind that island, whew - made it!  and *KABOOM* . . . I would have quit, too.

 

Later on I looked at the replay.  Of course you can't see him behind the island as my shots flew in but in free camera what you see is the sudden appearance of the sliding wreck of a just vaporized Aoba at full speed  animate into view the moment he blows up. lol

He could've just switched to the salt and pepper rounds.

 

I had a nice little shootout in my Arizona with another Arizona. I was bow-on to him, he was bow-on to me and we just sat there shooting eachother with 6 round HE salvos, laughing it up, having a grand ole' time. Until one of my team's cruisers flanked around and torped him. 

 

We farmed so much damage off eachother, though...

I have been on both ends of this issue.  My best was in the Warspite, did a snapshot at a Schohrs ducking behind an island, three citadels and boom.  Worst. Just unlocked the yamato, took it into COOP.  Edged forward bow on to the Bot Yamato getting ready to fire and boom.  Detonation! and dead.  First salvo from the bot while I was bow on and dead.  Damn!  I was literally speechless, and just stared at the screen for about 5 minutes lol.

Been seeing this more and more lately. Mostly from BBs being chased with no chance of survival. They quit before they sink. Never seen so many do it before. Must have been 4 last night.

I just had a Texas run into one of the torps from my V-170...   He just detonated.

 

Sad thing is, he was on my team. ;(
