Torpedos Not Launching

Have you noticed that when you are desperately attempting to fire off your toros before death that even when the indicator turns green and you are spamming click that your torpedo tubes just sit there? This occurs to me mostly when I am on low health (500 or so) and attempting to get my torps away before I die in a last ditch effort. Has anyone else had this issue?

Yes, I've experienced that. I expect that the launch process failed before launch was complete. I see this often.

I've had it, not due to teh low health but usually as soon as the indicator turns green (when reloading), or when I'm turning rapidly and it's flashes between green and yellow to show if it's the arc.

 

I think it's a result of a slight deync between the server and you. ..LOL there's a much better word to describe it but can't think of it..

Sometimes those last torps can change the outcome of a game, this should be fixed ASAP.

Had two games like that yesterday.  I was frantically poking away at the left mouse button and could swear I heard the "torpedo launch" sound effect a few seconds before sinking.  Nothing appeared and the game went on without me.

 

I know WG made a change to torpedo logic around 0.5.13 so that a ship won't continue firing a spread if it is sunk part of the way through.  I remember seeing partial spreads in recent patches due to this.

 

Since 0.5.15 though I don't think I've even gotten a partial salvo away upon sinking.  

 

When I went back yesterday to review the replay, despite remembering hearing the torpedo launch effect while in the game, it was not present in the recording.

 

I dunno.

I'm not talking about when I am reloading or turning, I disregard those incidents. But it happens to me when I am willing still in a smoke or sailing in a straight line.

This is exactly what I am talking about, could it be an issue similar to "ghost shells" in that the client side registers it differently that the server?

It has to do with the fact that your ship is being destroyed while launching the torpedoes. If you die before the whole salvo is launched, the whole salvo won't be launched.

 

Edit: misread OP. It's probably just a desync issue.

Yeah those last seconds that you shoot your torps but you get blown up usually do not appear on the replay although you SAW the green torp trails.  I attribute it to getting damaged again and the torp function (as a whole) gets aborted and counts as a non-event.  Nothing worse when your so close and your torp arc is NOT quite the right angle and when it is it turns Yellow !!! (damaged)

This is what happens:

 

You fire your torps,

you hear them launch,

then you die.

Unfortunately,

in-between you pressing your mouse button,

hearing those torps launch,

and then dieing,

the server has already registered you dead,

and the torps you think you fired never appear,

because you were already dead when you fired them.

(I have actually had half a spread fire, it cuts it that close)

That is how it's supposed to happen, and did for a little bit.  I may be mistaken, but lately I've gotten the feeling that partial spreads are no longer firing.

I have not only see this happen to me but also to friends in Divisions with me. Launching torps just before you die you hear the launching noise and you got the green light only to have NOTHING out the tubes!!! And dont tell me its a misfire otherwise it should happen when your at full health as well and launching your first set.!

My best guess is that the server has already registered you as dead. You may be alive in your computer but where the server is counts you as dead because your enemy has killed you and your computer is registering the data. As a "dead" ship, you can't fire torpedoes even though your computer doesn't register it. Keep in mind this is my guess.

yes I do, its lag/desync one of those two, I also have a rare bug where, my torps go in a completely different direction than where im aiming, its actually fired from the wrong side once and killed a team mate... i dont get the bug though.. :/

I find it funny on a 3 bank of torps only two of them fire at times. I see the same for 4 bank of torpedoes too. Love that server sync :sceptic:

Many times I have heard the torps shoot but never see them after dieing and I have  also seen the partial tubes shot as well with only 2 of the 4 firing or whatever.  This is an issue I'd love to see fixed as dd's are being hit enough with so much sonar and radar why let us hear the tubes fire only to not get it. Makes me mad everytime it happpens

Lucky.  Play some more DDs lol.  Happens to me all the time.  You sometimes here the torps hit the water as well.

Just happened again to me. Full health, straight line, fired front tubes then rear tubes. No torps and instant death from the BB I'd stalked. I'm new to DDs and this frustrates me. Heck, I've only played the game for a month or 6 weeks and between the invisible DDs and this misfiring issue I get fried figuratively and literally. Do I need to get a new keyboard?

Yes. I was about dead in my Akizuki the other day and they would not launch. Then I died. The end

Yes... having to click multiple times before torps actually launch. Happens all the time.
