gunboats are way to effective agenst battleships

So say im a gunboat "starts unloading on a bb'. A few seconds later bb is at half health and cant shoot me because of my maneuverability and smoke.

 (Well it doesn't seem you need any torps in a U.S or German or Russian dd you do more damage to bbs with your guns).

I don't think a smart player can stop a ship who moves as fast as 39 knots smoking and then start shredding him.

No, gunboats are way to effective against idiots. Don't be an idiot and they won't be effective.

 

Idiots cant dodge long range torps. It's a lot harder to avoid a smoking dd machine-gunning you.

Gunboats are effective against lone battleships who can't detect them. As soon as said battleship fleets up with cruisers and a destroyer and fighter escort, you're toast. Effective cooperation from the enemy team is a strong deterrent to both stealth gunboats and torpedo attacks.

But i don't think that this is a real issue as of now. Radar and hydro helped. Now, one can only stealthfire from smoke, behind and island and out of your detection after you fire guns. Radar can eliminate smoke and I personally would be afraid of trips in that situation.

Exactly, just like how if you wander off in a BB, a carrier can focus you down with ease. But that changes as soon as you play as a team, stay with a cruiser or two, never "YOLO" in a battleship.

This adds nothing of importance to this discussion and it is just plain immature to handle yourself in this way. For all we know, English is his 2nd language. Don't hate on people because of their education level, fluency in a language, or their age, it is childish and obnoxious.

Allow me to translate:

 

Gunboat destroyers shoot me and I don't have enough skills to make them stop.

(I am afraid of their guns)

A tier 8 DD mangled my precious tier 9 BB (probably premium) with its guns and I didn't possess the skill necessary to stop him.

I don't know how to stop a destroyer from wrecking my BB.

(probably because I bought it when I had only gotten to about tier 4 in regular ships and I have no clue as to how to play it)

Even when I get to tier 10 I will still be afraid of a Gearing.

And since I don't know how to stop a DD from hurting my hugely expensive BB, no one else will either.


 

This is BAIT, from another whining baBBy

I didn't know 2-300 damage per hit was considered "shredding".

Depending on the ship and the ammo, it could be a lot more than 2-300 damage per hit.  Russian DDs in particular can tear off decent chunks of a battleship's health pool if he broadsides: Kiev and above do 2500 AP alpha, per shell, which translates to almost 800 damage per hit.
