Does increasing main battery range also increase accuracy ?

For example if a ship is equipped for maximum range (with modules and upgrades), is there any difference with the dispersion at 10-15km, vs a non upgraded ship ?

And does it change shell travel time ? (velocity)

more range more dispersion.... there is MATH and stuff, but that is the simple laymen's answer....

Dispersion is measured at maximum range and decreases in a linear fashion as range drops.  So the quoted number in the stats is the dispersion at the ships current max range.  In effect the dispersion number quoted will get larger as you increase range.

The longer the range you shoot, the bigger the dispersion. Longer ranges means more maximum dispersion.

The longer the distance your target is, the longer your shells take to get there. Shell velocity is not affected by the range of the gun and remains the same.

The farther the target is, the smaller the ship profile is from your point of view.

So if you shoot from shorter ranges, your accuracy will be better than longer ranges because:

1) on short ranges, your shells will disperse less from where you aimed

2) on short ranges, your target has less reaction time to dodge your shells

3) the target profile is bigger meaning you have an easier time figuring out where to place your shots

It has no effect on accuracy at intermediate ranges. (any range really, but it reports a larger number because it fires farther)

It has no effect on shell velocity

You'd have to think it out and do some math to compare the accuracy of two ships. If a ship has awful dispersion but a very high range it does not mean the ship is inaccurate, the dispersion gets a lot better the closer the target becomes.

They really should just list dispersion like they do in WoT. m/km works and most people would understand.

Never seen anyone confused about accuracy on their tank in WoT.
