Bad habits

So what kind of bad habits in game do you know you have but still haven't managed to overcome? As for me:

1) Moving at top speed most of the time, which gets me into lots of trouble on cruisers and BBs especially, since I end up overextending. Well, except when I play my guilty pleasures ship - the Sharnhorst, when overextended and in enemy face is what I want to be :teethhappy:

2) Unleashing a full salvo, rather than using turrets sparingly. This really hurts my hit ratio.

3) In a DD always pushing into cap at the start of the match, even though I know that in Kiev it's generally a bad, bad idea. And then every time I get blown out of the water doing this I curse myself and say "Never again!" and then do it again shortly after :(

Is there any proven accuracy difference between salvo-fire and ripple-fire? I don't think there is. I'm pretty sure that's perception. I always salvo-fire. Ripple-firing is for sissies.

I am guilty of this 1 as well but playing KM BB's it tend to work in my favor

guilty as charged, overkill is in the order most of the times

It's in the order because there's a good chance that you'll miss about 80% of the shots you fired. Accuracy with volume helps ensure dead target is dead.

A broadsiding cruiser, if he's not a potato, will notice shells coming and dodge. If I use my turrets one-by-one I could potentially predict when he'll dodge (especially I i'd seen him dodging my shots before), but I keep forgetting.

Also for targets in a turn or at weird angle using turrets sparingly is better.

Or you could try and anticipate which way he'll go based on the situation unfolding on the map.  That's how I've played for a long time and it seems to be working out for me!  Heck, that just helps out gameplay in general!

You know how to develop the skills necessary not to rush into a cap?  Play the T3-T7 USN BB line.  Arizona is a good ship to pick up if you haven't already and an amazing trainer.  There are a lot of distinct advantages to the USN Standards... the slow speed means you get to the cap slower, but it also means you have to choose the right cap to begin with.  Armor angling helps you mitigate or eliminate incoming damage from AP fire, the slow speed teaches you about proper use of your damage control party and repair party consumables, the maneuverability teaches you to dodge incoming fire EVEN WITH slow ship speeds.

Generally speaking, the value in the USN BB line isn't that the ships are amazing (they are really not easy to get the most out of) but that they teach so many valuable lessons to apply to other ships.  I find myself playing the T3-T7 USN BB's when I get into a gameplay rut where I seem to take insane amounts of damage.  I relearn how to angle and all is good.  The slow speed also reminds me not to rush into combat without support and to know when to bail on a cap to avoid further damage.

Quite a good line!

As for bad habits?  I find myself getting tunnel vision more frequently here recently and a large part of that is trying to finish off a ship and then finding one of those pesky islands.  It's a constant bit of work that I'm sure my YT channel finds quite funny at times! :)

think that might be the biggest bad habit of all of us, chasing 1 boat and missing a broadside ship close to you and don't even speak about the islands

My bad habit is turning broadside to fire off all the guns. Most of the times i manage to do this without any trouble, but once in a while it makes me eat tons of damage. I find myself doing this most often in the Gneisenau, because i can't stand having to fire only 4 guns with that trollish dispersion.

This is like Alocoholics Annonomous for WoWS.

I just passed 4,600 battles, and repeat these same issues above too: push in too hard / lose sight of situation.

My biggest downfall comes from jumping from ship to ship not adjusting.  For instance, rushing a cap in a Khabarovsk only works if that cap is not focused by red.  But if I see an island in that cap, next thing i know I'm kicking the door in.  It doesn't stop there, maybe it works and next battle I'm in a Cruiser or BB and lone wolf a cap and die like a noob.

Lol speaking of not adjusting. I just  played my first game in my brand new Bismarck... it went well, I got a Kraken, but during all battle I kept wondering why my secondary range was only about 8 km. Of course, I forgot to install any upgrades

Can't remeber how many times this has happened to me... Yeah, that's another one lol

Biggest bad habit is full steaming ahead especially in my cruisers. I have to will myself to stay out of even reverse at the start of a game in Pensacola to avoid being the first spotted.

I still have rather poor situational awareness. It does bite me in the butt (lolcensor) alot. Still, it tends to be better than the average player's. I also need to work in my ability to plan more ahead.

In a DD or cruiser, it does not matter, as your rate of fire will not let you fall off detection in between shots. I like to use salvos almost exclusively when I am in a BB, on the few times I am firing from outside of my base detection range, as that give me more time in stealth in between salvos.

My biggest mistake that I keep making over and over again... Being a fan of USN cruisers... I get myself into an advantageous position, I.E: behind an island I can fire over, and then I get greedy and stay there for too long trying to get as much damage as possible. Next thing I know, the enemy has flanked me, and I eat three citadels before I can even get my screw turning.

if I play four Khab games I will die in two of them because of this.

I got two bad habbits from this game that I just cant kick:

  1. Getting greedy for that one last salvo instead of disengaging.
  2. Posting on the forum.

Whenever I burn down a BB and get an Arsonist medal I have a tendency to taunt them in chat and I really REALLY ruffle their feathers

Over extending which is a by product of becoming to focused on my target.

The good by product of this is im damn accurate because of watching how shells travel lol
