Where do you shoot an Atago?

AS the questions asks- where do you shoot these for citadels?

Looking at the armor viewer I think it looks like it has a fairly large citadel, (or maybe I'm mistaking something) but my New Orleans (which sees a lot of these..) consistently gets overpens.

I've even tried aiming a little lower than the waterline like I do with the Brit CA's, and I'm still getting overpens.

Isn't it pretty much the whole hull between the fore and aft turrets?

Side armor is weak, AP on a slightly angled and or broadside Atago is free cit zone.

Atago is also susceptible to HE (3-4k/salvo Atago HE vs Atago HE).

In my experience, I've found that it's beneficial to aim slightly back from the center when shooting at most IJN ships with the intent to citadel them. Too far forward and/or dead center usually results in normal penetrations.

I'd settle for normal pens, it's the 6 hits at under 4KM broadsides that result it 5 overpens that I'm finding annoying lol

Thanks all!

Guessing it's going to be the same thing as the brit ships, if I aim, I overpen, if I just kinda snap a shot off, I manage to hit the citadels.

Most likely you need to aim lower than you currently are.  You might be hitting the citadel as it is, but not the part you want to hit.  The top of the citadel is still armored, so if you hit that, it will bounce and either overpen or normal-pen.  Aiming a little lower means you'll hit the side armor and penetrate into the citadel behind it.
