So, I try another Imp.Nikolai match.  This time our team was SOoOOOooooo Baaaddddd.  We lost this match in just over FOUR MINUTES.  Look at those scores!  This match was over so quick, by the time my BB was in place to fight, I only had time to fire 36 shells and we suddenly lose.

What's hilarious is that the Clemson with a TK did better than three people in the lobby, notably both carriers.  CVs at low-tier are virtually unstoppable unless the other CV decides to rain on your parade.

Dude, I *knew* we were going to lose but it was over so quick :D When I saw our guys dropping like flies, I was bracing myself to having to deal with multiple DDs, a Cruiser, and a BB further back.  But then the "Defeat" music started playing and it was done!

Probably the most frustrating aspect of the game is the perpetual, virulent plague of potatoism.  At times, it does not matter what you do; it's going to be rough, quick, brutal and nasty.  The second shot is one in my own Nikolai where I refused to lose and swung that thing around like a madman, destroying ships all around me at the end of the match, whilst burning myself pretty much the entire time.

Sometimes I yearn for those potato teams -- y'know the ones.  That oh-so rare combination where their fail is substantial but it still leaves you just enough to work with to let you try and practice solo carrying.  Those opportunities are so few and far between, because usually when things go bad, the game just simply ends before you can really do anything.  I don't get enough chances to practice trying to come back against long odds -- so much so that when it does happen, I get the jitters something fierce and usually botch things in a horribly embarrassing way... such as instead of ducking neatly behind an island before the enemy can retaliate, I mistime my turn and beach myself instead.  I then get tosit there like a derp for four battleships to broadside my face.  Every now and then I do get to feel like a superstar.

But those practice sessions are dearly paid for with many a facepalm, many a sigh and many a groan of resignation that prompts me to log off and go play something else.

Yeah, and it's difficult in a ship like the Nikolai, with that 36 second reload you're losing ships faster than you can shoot.  Just watching and hearing them explode while you're whistling an old show tune.

Yep, you're absolutely right.  The Nikolai really can't delete ships fast enough when the team is circling the drain.  Tell me if this sounds familiar?  You see the opportunity to delete two ships and MAYBE keep your team in the game for one more reload cycle.  It's only going to take one hit (even an overpen!) from your AP shells.  So you aim one turret at the first and squeeze the trigger.  You then pan to the second ship and put another turret's worth of guns at that target.  Your aim is perfect, but wonky dispersion kicks in and the first one misses.  So does the second.  So you do it again.  And they both miss.  Again.  The game then ends.

Yeah... We don't talk about yesterday...

  Thursday was friggin awesome!!

Friday, I apparently forgot how to play entirely overnight.   Derp, derp, derp.  I swear, there wasn't a torpedo launched that I didn't sail into...   Brought out my brand new NC- 1 semi decent match, then fail fail, fail.  I got the reds that knew EXACTLY how to exploit that ships' flaws- and did so with haste.   Switched to Colorado to try and salvage a bit of pride, and got the only two games that could be considered decent.   Moved on to my new Danae.  Oh dear God, that was bad...

My crowning achievement for  the day?  A 1 hit, zero damage match.  Yes, you read that right.

I'm convinced that that ship exists for two reasons only:

a) they had to put SOMETHING at tier 4.

b) WG wanted to troll us, for all the grumbling and harsh comments here and in chat.

A final game in my Phoenix, where I was the team shell magnet, pulling in fire from all over the map, and I ragequit for the night...

A new record: in one day, this game made me hate 2 brand new ships.  I'm now AFRAID to try out my new tier 3 German DD and my Gnevny...

It's so nice when you don't see your own name on that list =)

Oh, I'm relieved to hear that I'm not the only one that does this!  Every time someone posts something about a potato team, I keep thinking:  "Oh no, I've been found out!  They've seen through my lies at last!"
