What is wrong with Z-23's magazine? My Z-23 detonated 4 times in one day.

As I mentioned in title, I ran out of detonation flags. So I have to play my Z-23 without it. As a result, my Z-23 detonated 4 times in 24 battles I played in Z-23 today. Magazine detonation should be a thing that happens rarely. But it happened 4 times in my Z-23, but not in my other DDs today. I don't know either it is a bug on Z-23's magazine model, or I just got super unlucky.

There was a caution about German destroyers that they mentioned in the patch notes - they are wider so don't show your side too much. Maybe you are seeing the consequences of WG balancing the German DD's?

All it takes is a penetrating hit on a turret, to any ship. I watched a NC and a CO get det'd in the same match a couple days ago.

Chances of 4 dets in one day are far better than the odds of winning the lottery.  Lucky you. :(

Then why does it not happen to my Gearing as much? She's wider and also taller(more area to hit). She's basically a tall fat girl. I do love her though. But I have had no gets on my Z-23 at all.

If you got detonated 4 times in one day, you should have a lot of Juliet Charlie flags.

Well, according to the detonation apologists, your sacrifice is worth it so that 4 other people may get a quick chuckle.

In fact, according to some of them, you should be chuckling about it yourself, because getting blown up by no fault of your own is funny somehow.

That's just a streak of bad luck on a small sample size.  I once got detonated in two consecutive games in my Mogami.  That doesn't mean there's some specific detonation-related problem with the Mogami.  If you play a large number of games on the Z-23 and still have more frequent than normal detonations then there might be a problem.

According to a post on Armored Patrol a few weeks ago, detonation has a chance to occur when the ship's magazine space is hit.  Magazine spaces don't count as citadels in ships with guns smaller than 200 mm, but they still exist and can still be hit.  The chance for detonation depends on how much damage the magazine space has taken, and scales from 1% to 10%.  The reason destroyers detonate so much more often than other ships is because their thin armor and small size allows the explosions of HE rounds close to the magazine spaces to penetrate, so basically any HE round hitting near a magazine has a chance to detonate your ship, and if it doesn't it can increase the chance of a detonation on the next hit.

If you weren't just getting unlucky and the Z-23 really does have a higher chance to detonate than other DD's, it would probably be because the magazine space is either bigger or less well protected than other DD's, so more of the HE rounds that hit you are splashing damage on it, stacking up toward that maximum 10% chance faster.

But I still think you probably just got unlucky and if you keep playing the Z-23 you'll see it average out to about the same detonation chance as other DD's.

What it DOES mean is that WG should have implemented detonations using a pseudorandom number generator accounting for past detonations and average det rate, but got lazy and didn't.

My guess is that WG made this a characteristic of German DD's to offset their many good capabiities. For balance, for reasons...

Both Gnevny and Ognevoy tend to have detonation problem to me, so it's not new. Some other mid-tier DDs would have the same problem too.
