If the tier V ship is top tier and has someone even slightly competent behind the wheel, then yes. However, if uptiered to VI and VII, then the tier V can still hold their own if they play their cards right, but in this scenario its the tier VII's doing the sealclubbing

As for tier 5 it depends like Bluemist stated on the captain. Given that you might be talking about yourself I would say relax and remember your stretches, wouldn't want your arm to get sore lol. If you can hold your own against tier 7s in a tier 5 ship then kudos. There are very few ships in my opinion that can.

My vote is a solid 'no.' I confessed in a thread a few months ago that I was a career seal clubber at T5 -- a true Minekaze addict. But since they messed up the MM, T5 in anything is no longer seal clubbing -- not even in my Fujin. As absurd as it sounds, I play Atago/Fletcher/Zao a lot because it's easier to fight at those level-playing-field tiers than it is to perpetually battle uphill as a Tier V. And my Shiratsuyu and Scharnhorst T7s are just plain bullies due to the lopsided matchmaking that flings lower level seals at me. And if you're in a merely so-so T5 such as an Omaha? Then you're a seal roadkill on Highway T7. WG has wrecked ships of that sort with their sabotaged MM. Edited December 22, 2016 by Benedict99

If you're getting clubbed at T6, it's not because you're new. It's because you're a Solanum tuber.

Ram a Fubuki to death and survive. Do in excess of 170,000 damage. Blow the citadels out of several enemy cruisers at point blank range. Release the Kraken and "settle" for a couple of four-kill games as chasers. Paying T6-7s only make it marginally harder.
