  1. 1. Should the escape key return to port while in Modules?

The escape key doesn't take you back to port when you are in Modules, Tech Tree, or Exterior. It is a common UI feature that when you are in a sub-menu, pressing escape will take you out of the sub menu. I think that this is an easy fix that would make the game more polished. It is a small issue, but it really makes the game feel unpolished to me.

It's a pretty standard UI thing that when you hit escape from a submenu, you go up one level. I find it frustrating too that hitting escape from the tech tree or modules doesn't take you back to port, but instead opens the menu.

I know it is not a massive deal, but its the small optimizations that make or break games. I appreciate the humor.

"Hey, there's this thing in the UI which doesn't seem like it's as intuitive as it could be. Do you folks think it should change?"

"Omg just press the right button for the thing u trynna do, noob"

—A recent exchange on an online forum, totally not this one.

"It doesn't happen often so it's not an issue, even if it is broken"

-Apparently the normal response for most issues in a game, not this game though.

Where in breaking from modern UX convention to open a menu which has poor responsiveness have you determined that this issue occurs only rarely? Is this a case of "I have adapted to this unintuitive interface, and therefore it does not need improvement?" If so, I have some Donald Norman for you to read before you opine further on others' user interface experiences.
