Signal Flags That Increase Your Odds of Detonation

There are two signal flags that promise to:

 

+5% to the risk of your ship's magazine detonation.

 

 

If I am reading this right, by wearing the signal I am increasing the likelihood of MY OWN SHIP blowing up.

Can someone please explain why these flags exist and who uses them?

I've been throwing the flooding flags on simply because I have over 370 of the darn things. Haven't detonated yet.

I use them to increase my HE fire chances on some ships or flooding chance increase for missions . However I also use a anti-detonation signal flag with them as it TOTALLY negates the chance of being detonated ; PERIOD . The increased chance of detonation is therefore negated .     :honoring:

I use them for the increased fire chance, and then just nullify the detonation chance altogether by flying a Juliet Charlie flag with it.

This.  Juliet Charlie wipes out ALL chance of detonation (according to the devs).

It is a potent combination in ranked.

 

Stack on the increased flood and both increased fire chances, slap on the no detonation flag that you were (or should) mount anyway and viola.

 

I don't ever mount anti detonation flags on my ships in randoms unless I am using the 100% exp cammo.

I read somewhere that the detonation flag, Juliet Charlie negates the +5% from the Juliet Whiskey and the India X-Ray, so the chance of being detonated is zero.

I also read (can't remember where or how old it is) that the only 2 flags that are absolute are the Juliet Charlie and the Sierra Mike.

Well you could just fly the the increase detonation flags, farm Anti-Detonation Flags while at the same time screwing your detonation rate. Than you can complain to WG about how out of hand their Detonation rate is or how dumb these flags are. Which if the complaints reach Alabamagate level we might see the flags or Detonation rate reduced/changed. Some times the best way to change the system is to abuse the tools it gives you. 

 

Oh and one more thing.

i normally pair those flags with my CV as they have no magazine to detonate and the additional % to cause floods or fires is always welcomed.

So basically they force you to pay for the anti-detonation flags?

 

 

I have 413 of the damned things now.

 

 

 

Use them 413 times in a row.

You get 10 anti-detonation flag every time you detonate.  So look at it this way: you have no excuse for detonating more than once every 11 games.

You do not have to buy. I use lower tier DDs, (cheaper to maintain) as det flag farmers. If they blow up, no big loss of credits at lower tiers and you get 10 Det flags.

 

I use the det flags in all the high tier (high cost) ships and especially when I use the flags that increase your chances of detonation. Why use those? You get more chances causing a flood (DDs) or better chance of starting fires (good for DDs and cruisers) at the risk of increasing your risk of detonation. Use a Juliet Charlie which reduces your chance of detonation to zero. Problem solved!

 

The only issue with this, one that I have complained about in the past, is that you get 10 det flags only once per day. Not good enough. Once I got a DD detonated two times in a row in two successive battles. Fun eh? I only received 10 flags. This should change.

Are there different kinds of detonations because I didn't get a single Juliette Charlie. 

 

I fired up my Erie and played a Random Game with it against T1s.

 

Eventually I got blown up but no signals were awarded.
