Hi

I just got my Pearl harbour flag thought what ship could I put it on, ok The Erie will do I thought.

Then I noticed how she looked, holly hell WG it seems with every new patch must just keep adding the rust to ships because not even with camo on does it hide it.

I mean have not played my low tier ships for ages and I am certain all tier ships have it to some degree but the first 4 original ships look like its time they were scrapped  if it was a real life situation, only Black Swan looks reasonable.

I know WG are trying to make the ships authentic but its a bit overboard for me, any more hull rust on the Erie and I think she'll flood in port and settle on the harbour floor.

Hope these are shallow ports so ships can be salvaged.

regards

Erie?

Well I have the monthly flag on all other USN ships to get the bonus stuff.

And I like to at least have 1 special flag on a nations ship the Erie seemed the best candidate.

There is a mod that removes the rust

Would be nice to just get an option in the graphics settings. The Rust sucks.

Erie collects rust because nobody takes her out anymore after they neutered the T1's.

1C Maddox Games' "next-gen" flight sim, "IL-2: The Battle of Britain" that came out in 2011 had sliders for how beat-up you wanted your aircraft to look for a given flight. I believe that the campaign also had this as part of its progression—the longer you played, the more weathered your "crate" would get.

WoWs should consider implementing this system, or something like it.

Ships can get quite rusty in wartime conditions like HMS Hermes after the Falklands War.

Context?

What was the age and condition of HMS Hermes when she hurried off, with only 3 days notice, to the Falklands conflict?

I believe this article provides some possibly good hints about the broader context regarding the deployments, age, conditions and backstories of these two ships shortly before and after the Falklands conflict.

HMS Invincible was launched on 3 May 1977 as the seventh ship to carry the name. She saw action in the Falklands War when she was deployed with HMS Hermes and took over as flagship of the British fleet when Hermes was sold to India.

On 25 February 1982, after several months of negotiations, the Australian government announced that it had agreed to buy Invincible for £175 million as a replacement, under the name HMAS Australia. However, On 2 April 1982, Argentina invaded the Falkland Islands. Three days later, a naval task force headed by Invincible and Hermes left HMNB Portsmouth bound for the South Atlantic and, on 20 April, the British war cabinet ordered the repossession of the Islands.

HMS Invincible returns home looking very ship-shape following the Falklands War, 1982

That boat trailing just behind with the gorgeous teak wood transom sure looks familiar...  hmmm...
