Just recently started playing again and I noticed some new changes. The first change I noticed is that not many people are playing Carriers all that much anymore. The second change was the higher dispersion rate on most of the battle ships. Third and most irritating change I have noticed is the torpedoes. I was pulling up against a Destroyer that was beach from the opposite side of the island they where beach on. They would appear and disappear every so often like they do. It wasn't till I peered the corner when I saw them. they were 1.0m away. Thinking I was safe from his torpedoes activation distance I began my attack. Only for the player to torp me right off the bat and sink me very quickly. I have read the pass couple a patch notes but cant find anything about torp activation change. Can anyone help me out with the new changes and anything else i might need to learn?

None of the changes you mentioned, excluding carriers(which is just a trend), exist.

You may have been close enough that one of the torps in the spread didn't arm but the other 2 or 3 in the spread may have had enough room to arm.

arming distance is about .2 km iirc for ship launched torps, you can see it with the aiming wedge for torps on ships, where you see the aiming wedge is where it is armed, between that and the ship is the unarmed distance.

This is the worst and bull-dropping-est aspect of this "game." Torpedoes have to have a reasonable minimum arming range, otherwise you'd damage your own ship whenever you drop on an enemy that is too close. The same should go for shells, too, with the minimum arming distance related to the caliber of the round you are firing.

And please don't say that this is "just how the game works." If WG is going to have such totally crap weapon behavior then why don't they include destroyers that fly through the air? How about guided torpedoes, or torps that avoid friendlies altogether?

Bullshirt. All purest bullshirt.
