I'm a terrible player when I div up

I've seen it mentioned frequently on the forums that divisioning is one of the best ways to increase your win rate.  I was pretty surprised to see that I'm significantly better solo than I am in a division.  Over the last 31 days my WTR, win rate, damage, KDR, and survival rate are all pretty terrible in 2 or 3 ship divisions.  My lifetime win rate when in a division is under 50%.  On the other hand, my solo win rate for the last month is 73%, my WTR is 350 points higher, my average damage is 66k, and my KDR is above 2.  My ranked queue win rate is about 70% as well.

 

And it's not really my division mates - on the whole, they're mostly better players than I am.  

 

Does anyone else experience this?  How does an effective division work?  I'm clearly doing it wrong.

I also solo better, particularly in DDs. Teammates on comms are distracting, but they also bring what's easily the best fun in the game, so... yeah. I'll keep divisioning. You should too. After all, it's not like you're going to get the same witty banter from the chat box.

I think it depends on who you division with, you have to have the same play styles, our team battle group is still together, a couple of them are really good players, great shots, purple everything but I don't do well when I division with them, I play a very aggressive, high risk, play style where they don't, that's why there unicum players and I wont ever be, I do good in divisions with others who are aggressive

The also describes me. What I have found, for me anyway, is when divisioning up I pay to much attention to what my mates are doing and less on what I myself am doing. As a result I play poorly. I guess I am just to easily distracted.

Divs are not the only way to get your WN8 up. They are the best way to get it up over X amount and keep it there.

 

Div play is very different from solo. In either play type there are things you need to do different for success.

 

Best thing is to watch streams with good div play to learn. Other than that the mix of div ships have a huge impact on your success. Always have a BB and a DD. Never play all one kind of class and preferably play different nations. The last part may not seem important but everyone else on the team benefits.

It depends on who you div with.

 

I play with a friend, and it shows in both of our win rates.  Solo I am 56.88 WR, 2-ship drops to 54.65%.  He on the other hand solo has a 51.35% WR and 2-ship rises to 55.56%.  This is why I changed my belief about whether or not win rates mean anything.  Until I looked at his win rates for solo and 2-ship, I thought it was all luck of the draw.  Looking at his stats, I can see the impact *I* am having because he doesn't really div up with anyone else.
