I understand and play to their strenghts as with Myogi, NY or even the Karl. Sometimes the ship speaks to me in a language I don't undertand, I never got the hang of Derzki, and K-berg was difficult at times. But with Furutaka happens something very different to any other ship I've played so far, as if channeling the divine spirit of kamikaze, I become possesed by this ship and turn into a proper Shimazu bloodthirsty maniac. The setting of this ship is so agressively oriented that I find near impossible to resist the urge to charge the enemy guns blazing and drop some fishes of death at point blank range. Seriously, she is my only ship with below average survival rating. I don't track the number of times I've derped in the Taco, too many to be proud of it, but the times it works is glorious. Nothing like the rush of charging a Battleship bow on in pure samurai showdown fashion, enduring the first two volleys is easy, it is the third and last one, the one where you dance on the edge of the blade, the one that gets me hooked, it is either kill or be killed, blown in pieces or drop 4 torps point blank on the belly. I'm adicted to this ship though she gets me killed almost every match, she is an demonic spirit, cursed. Now it is well past the time to sell her and go on to Aoba, but 16 inches beats bow on anytime, no rushing BBs, no berzerk fun. For me is another order of Taco, at least today, and if you see me comrade, guns blazing rushing down your ship, beware and aim well cuz I ain't stoping until it is you or me. I play for the WIN, and frequently push an attack even if I am low on health. That doesn't mean I YOLO rush, but I have confidence in my ability to deal more damage than I will take. So, even if I could survive for the probable win, I will typically attack and help secure a definite win, even if it means my chances of surviving are low. So, I would consider my survival % is a very low priority stat, for me. Play your ship, whatever it is, and be smart with it. For me the win is the most important stat.
