Anshan DD

With the Shipsmas Bundles that are coming out, Does anyone know if the Anshan will make an appearance? I know the Lo Yang was available in the first one but haven't seen the Anshan for sale since the original sale and I wasn't able to buy one at the time.

I doubt WG will re-sell it outside of masivly overpriced bundles like the shipsgiving one for a hair less than $400.

I should have just gotten it and the Lo Yang in the bundle, gotten the extra doubloons for the other ships I already had, and called it a year there...sigh. 70 something bucks wasn't so bad for a 6 and 8 premiums and some doubloons....

Why would you want the Anshan anyways?  It's only bonus is the free XP and even with that, it's not a whole lot.   If you think getting 400 XP instead of 300 XP is going to make you get the Missouri with free XP at some point in your life time, I think you need to rethink. 

 

It's really not a great ship.  The turrets are too slow to knife fight, the range isn't great, it can't captain train and doesn't really pay out great credits at that tier.

 

I think it's a bit of a dog ship, and I don't see why they wouldn't sell it again, if they have suckers to buy it.

It just due to the fact that I like it, It may be the same as its in game counterpart but that was a ship I enjoyed and I've wanted the Anshan for a while! and I don't want it for the free exp, I already have enough for the Missouri!

It is basically a tier 6 gnevy which I absolutely loved. Was one of my favorite destroyers to play. It does suffer the same slow turrets though which is a downside but it has more versatility which is more common among USN dds. Having stealth torping capabilities and high velocity shells. Nothing is funner than citadeling a cruiser 8 to 10 km away with ap. Since the arc is so flat the guns can be very punchy. The torps are slow but useful for ambushes or for getting a cruiser to show its side so you can punish.

I really like the Anshan.  I'm 60% in it and I'm pretty average.

It can invisifire, 8km torps, it's a decent DD if you're into Russian DD.

 

Slap aft and DE on it and go to town!

It will help grinding some free exp for when I unlock ships that are a pain in the (insert planet name)

I never really bothered to do the math on it in the past.

 

I just kind of went on long-ish streaks of playing Anshan, and then was like "Oh, dang. I've got quite a nice bit of free XP now."

I originally never bought her because I already had Gremyaschy and figured it was just a clone of her just bumped up a tier.

 

But I picked her up recently with the Lo Yang bundle and even though her similarities to Gremy are very strong, she is still a fun ship to play.  The XP bonus is just icing on the cake.

The Free XP bonus is nice, but I've all but stopped playing mine with the current MM at tier 6. It is not a fun ship when it is low tier.

 

I suspect it may get better if I ever get CE on it, but right now, I just can't make myself take it out of port that much.

For months I was salivating over Anshan as well, wondering why they refused to sell it.  But what does it really offer over say . . . Leningrad?  Is it different enough to warrant another 17 pt. captain grind?  Probably not.  With German DDs on the way, it just doesn't seem as exciting anymore, but if the revised captain skills bring earlier access to CE (as the leaks suggest) then I'd probably pick it up.

I agree with their ability to double dip on people desperate for the Missouri 

 

If they offer this in a 200-300$ pack, they can grab that, then double dip again when they convert experience.

It's actually a very good DD. It has relatively flat arcs and with AFT its range is excellent. The torps are also decent at 8K. And with a 15-point captain you can get the concealment down to 6.3, which is excellent for the tier. Overall it's one of the best tier 6 DDs.

 

It isn't the best at knifefighting, but if you can keep U.S. DDs outside 7K or so (and you should be able to with the speed), you should be able to wear them down as you'll be more accurate.

 

The free XP may not seem like a ton, but all those bonuses stack, so if you add a Papa (and a 50% XP flag if you have some around), you can crack 1K free XP with a decent game.

Shut your dirty mouth. Set up correctly an Anshan can knife fight better than all but the USN. And as long as the Anshan doesn't have to turn 180 to the other side, Anshan can keep up with a USN DD. I brawl Farraguts all the time and come out ahead.

Really?  I'm not totally sure wththis is, is this you trying to be funny?  Is this a joke?  Is this you being tough?  I don't get it.  I provided my opinion on a dull, boring ship to play to try to save someone from spending money on it and finding out later.  I did this because there are a lot of "this ship is awesome" fanboys on these forums who make claims about things when they don't even own them.

 

Your win rate in the Anshan is crap and so is your average damage.  I don't think you are coming out on top of anything often in that ship.

 

By comparison, my stats in it are higher across the board than average, so I'd like to think my opinion on it holds some weight.

Anshan is a fantastic little ship that I really need to start playing more. Nice and flexible, I'll happily take on any equal tier dd in it and still get a good performance out of it when I'm uptiered.

Well, a bit short-sighted, as there will be Chinese ships in the game, so leader guy training is a thing.

 

And just because you don't like a particular ship, someone else enjoying it doesn't make them a sucker.

I didn't belittle anyone, I bought the ship too. 

 

Sometimes there are some VERY untrue reviews of ships that come across these forums from people who may have died to a ship or seen one person have one whale of a game in a ship, then suddenly their opinion of it is that it's so awesome someone else should buy it the minute it comes up for sale.  It simply is not the case.

 

I own a couple dog premium ships and I will share my opinions on why I think so.  Having a different opinion of it is fine but at least look to see who actually has the damn ship before trusting their opinion, and sometimes, since we can hide our stats, even then we can't.

It was more sarcasm on the first line. But I still stand by the fact that a properly set up Anshan can mix it up with a Farragut and stand a very good chance of coming out ontop.

 

And yes I'm not all that good with DDs overall. I tend to overextend way too much and get killed more times than not.

Out of respect for your forum presence I was trying to not fly off the handle at you.

 

I'd respectfully say any ship in this game can perform in a solid players hand.  Some premium ships are forgiving and some are not.  This ship is a little better since they buffed the turrets on DDs a while back, so it doesn't lose them like it used to, but I still don't think it's an exhilarating ship to play and I think people's money would be spent better elsewhere, that's just my honest thought on it.
