Why is this allowed? If I can be stopped by the line CV planes should go by the border line also. was avoiding torps and CV sends planes out of bounds and lays down a spread and gets me. I guess I am whining. I don't know. Was just miffed that he could do that.

Not a rider. I usually avoid borders at all costs.. I just happen to be near it that round. Something that happens once in a blue moon. I am sure it happens to anyone every once in awhile.

you cannot manually drop near map border. I think its a bug, since in beta at one point you used to be able to. I have been [edited ]at WG to fix this crap since it started happening but they have never got around to fixing it, so enjoy being pretty much immune to torpedoes near the map edge. If you're a CV and think the enemy CV is going to target you, just head to map edge and don't expect him to be able to sink you at all.

It only happens with auto targeting... With manual you can't get it outside.

It only really happens if the target was selected and ether the Player adjusted the approach before you hit the boarder or in some cases if the aircraft AI took that as the optimal angle to approach from. For example if you are in a situation where you are turning and are close or on the boarder and the planes happen to be approaching from the boarder they might target the side that is closest to the boarder and may end up beyond it since in the case of torp planes they always drop ahead of you.

You can actually drop outside "manually" but it's really setting up an auto-drop and then making significant adjustments. Doing it properly in a real battle is so difficult that I would rather leave it to auto-drop normally or better yet wait for an opportunity later or target elsewhere.

Have you tried manual dropping a line-rider? It's harder than you think. Line riding is one of the most annoying things CV players have to deal with, because they can't manual drop properly due to the map border preventing them from being able to do so. Sure they can use auto-drop, but it's not as effective.

To be clear, it is allowed because otherwise players would use the border as protection against carrier drops.  To avoid that exploit planes can drop out of bounds

Despite us making it look easy, doing this is a huge risk as it requires the planes to pass extremely close to the target for an extraordinary amount of time.

Try playing co-op, they drop torps out of bounds, right next to islands like bombs, through dead ships, make 90 degree turns around islands....

What's wrong with the community perception of CVs in a nutshell.  Only the skilled players are left but people still think "sky cancer" is OP instead of thinking that it might just be the player.

When I learned the auto drop rotate and switch to manual drop trick it was eye opening.  Border huggers who accidently went there now go poof.

CVs actually can't drop too close to the border, which is one of the few dumb things that makes them less OP. They should be able to torp and bomb border riders much more easily. That's one case where I don't mind them ruining a player's day.

As for all the CV mains whining on this sort of thread that CVs are not at all OP because they can't do this one thing and it's only really good CV players that are a problem. The problem is being a really good CV player is much easier, and the best CV players have absurd win rates. No class can influence the game so heavily. There's a reason that there are more Taiho players with an 80% win rate than all other T9s combined. A bad CV player is part of the problem just as much as a good CV player. A class so powerful it can singlehandledly transform each battle it is in is a problem. A bad CV player will cost you the battle, a good CV will win you the battle, sometimes it's that simple.

I've played less than 100 CV battles, can barely handle the controls have little idea what I'm doing and have multiple Krakens and am averaging higher damage in my Zuiho with a low-level captain and no flags than any other T5 I own other than the OP tech tree Konig. Being a CV feels like god mode, I can pick an enemy and delete him, just like enemy CVs have done to me on countless occasions.

set up for an auto drop, from out of bounds. when the group is as far out of bounds as you can get it, do the manual drop. you can drop them out of bounds with space to arm, and it's hard to dodge as they are slower. they are just as likely to get shot down out of bounds as in. please please please don't take this away from us too (fearing the nerfbat O.O)

played few games as a CV, but already picked that up.

I've always wanted to know why people that make the god mode claim never get to the T6 CV's...

Meaning when they start seeing AA SOB Ships like the NC, NOLA, PENSI, ATLANTA, CLEVELAND, BIS, HIPPER ETC?

Yeah.. easy mode game still.

Because Zuihou is an excellent sealclubber despite having to deal with AS Bogues.

You can manual drop, you first make the drop from inside the map and then turn it with the UI so they attack from outside. Though it's very annoying not being able to move the cursor outside.

That it is. Probably the best IJN CV tier for tier. It can do everything the Hakuryu can proportionally at t5, if not more. It just faces fighter Bogues which are just plain annoying.

Also to the OP. Get off the line.
