Leander is where the line starts picking up for me but I just love the triple mounts on Fiji - Neptune so much more than the double mounts on Leander. Plus Fiji gets a pretty nice looking camo

I started at T1 and worked my way up to T9, so I would have to say no I wouldn't skip.  Mainly because of the experience gained from the lower ships for driving the higher tier ships.

I'd have to second this notion. Very valuable information in playing the low tier RN cruisers. Teaches caution while the ships are a little more forgiving. 

 

Leander is really where they start getting good though.

Id start at the emerald, its not very good but doesn't take long to get past. the emerald will teach you to use your shots well and to protect your sides, then when you get to the leander you will have a good understanding and enjoy it

I agree that insight is found when playing an entire line. Just want to get an idea of the opinion of the Forum on essentially where they feel the RN Cruiser line gets good at. And... Meat.

Definitely the Leander. I skipped about half of the Emerald, and that's the only ship I skipped, mainly because of the matchmaking. In the 8 games I played, I was one of three tier 5s in...8 of them. The rest have been decent to great. Finally having decent gun layouts really helps though as with Leander, then Fiji is just amazing. Like...seriously.

 

Also, yes, meat. The most important topic.

I have to admit I Free XP'd Weymouth. But I also spent a little more time adding XP to Caledon, as that is where the BB line usually breaks out of.

 

And, isn't "Regular-[edited]bacon, bacon" usually called streaky bacon?

I was excited for the Royal Navy but than I started looking at leaks and readimg reviews, soon all excitement I had died.

The Tier 6 seemed ok and I had heard good things about the Tier 7 so thanks to a Super container with 50k free xp I jumped up the line to the Leander. But than I saw them in battle, I wrecked several and I wasn't even trying hard. So I decided to keep playing the ships I had, got the Belfast and wrote off the Royal Navy line for now.

A week or so later WG comes out saying Save All Your Free Xp the USS Missouri is coming. 

The one ship I wanted in game is coming and I need to save all Free Xp. 

But I just wasted 60k on the Royal Navy Cruiser line that I'm not even playing. 

If any one needs me I'll be grinding all the Free Xp I can. Send gold or Papa Papa flags if you can, the Sinksalot Fleet is going to be busy.

Moral of the Story; Don't waste that precious Free Xp for worthless ships.

Minotaur might be the most OP ship in game right now, to me. I can probably count on my hands how many bad games I have seen out of the ship, from seeing it many times and with many different players playing her.

 

I say that with a hint of Salt because I don't like the way she does it but if this is the direction that WG is going to go than so be it, I want one too.

Emerald is a consideration because it has smoke, but it also gets the worst matchmaking in the game combined with some very bad guns. Leander was very fun for me. Fiji was astounding, but you should probably get some practice in the Leander so you can appreciate how damn good the Fiji is when you get it.

While Leander feels like the turning point for the line, I think that learning the hard lessons of Emerald is important. I would not recommend burning up free XP to get past Emerald, even if it's a really rough ship to play.

I generally play Tiers 5/6/7 cruisers when I'm not causing havoc in my Destroyer fleet. Not much below Tier 4 interests me and high tier cruiser play is either hid an snipe or get deleted. I'm sometimes interested in Tier 9 or 10 cruisers but find most of the cruisers at Tier 8 to be boring. And I'm at the point in the game where grinding out xp on ships that are not interesting isn't something I want to do. So when I say worthless, I mean I wasted 60k Free Xp on ships have have no urge to play.

I understand, I free'd Izumo for Yamato before she got her heal nerfed however many months ago.

 

Turns out I was terrible with her and hated playing her, my free XP would have been more valuable on the IJN DD line.

I free XP'd tier 1 to Tier 9, but didn't grind out any upgrades, nor did I have the free XP to reach the Minotaur, but I've enjoyed playing the other ships and grinding the captains as well.
