Last night I had the best night of play so far. I broke 150K damage in T8 twice, tied my most kills twice (6 kills in a match), and won all 9 games I played. Part of the success is owed to observant DDs who, seeing me standing my ground supporting our fight for caps, came over to throw smoke around me. This happened multiple times when I was tanking heavy fire, and allowed me to heal up and continue blasting cruisers to kingdom come without having to withdraw. I also got to see the frightening majesty of a secondary spec Bismark (+signal flag) in smoke lighting everything up that came within 10km.

If more DD players took notice of BBs that actually help them push and share some smoke to keep them on the front line longer, more BB players might be willing to cowboy up and move forward to where they should be. The to DD players that helped me help our teams win last night, I salute you. :honoring:

As a DD player, if a DD offers smoke to you, ANSWER THEM. It's a yes or no question.

If you don't want it, tell us and we'll save it. Don't leave us hanging by giving us the silent treatment.

Even better, don't complain that we didn't drop smoke when you never answered our question in the first place. We can't read minds.

That's the great thing though. No one asked. They saw me taking fire from multiple HE spammers, sailed over for a moment and poofed out a smoke screen. It was really, really nice of them to notice and act. And to see it done by multiple people in different games was even better.

I usually get more affirmatives and responses from players then nothing. But the nothings do happen from time to time.

Also from USN DD captain to USN DD captains, when I am driving my RN cruiser and I offer close fire support on the cap, the usually oblige with their epic smoke :) Thank you good sirs!

I do this alot when I play my japan dd's. If I'm not useful in a knife fights with other dd's. The least I can do is give some smoke cover for Bb's that are risking their lives pushing the caps

I think non-DD Captains are starting to realize how helpful they can be.

The DD salt has gone down substantially the past few.

I try to support others in game with smoke, but most often they don't take advantage of it, just keep sailing right through. Even when I have the opportunity to give them a heads up its coming.

Oh of course, if I see that someone is in trouble I'll go drop smoke without being asked if i can safely do so. I was thinking more of the times when smoke may or may not be desired for convinience.
