I Finally Did It, I Uninstalled

Hey.... I just had to say, I uninstalled, for real.

 

I just can't keep waiting for good things to happen; for I know nothing will come.

I...sold my Gearing. I know this is something that most will scoff at this being a reason to leave. However, if you've known me for some time, you'll know that I love the Gearing. It was my ultimate goal to get it in Closed Beta, I accomplished that goal, and loved the hell out of it; despite my horrid stats in the USN DDs, or overall. Later, I earned it in December of last year. I was shocked at the repairs, but I played it just the same. Enjoying it all the way.

    I took a short, unintentional break throughout August, and enjoyed my disconnect from the game. More than I thought I should. I couldn't understand why this was until I returned. I immediately became disappointed when I opened the game, so I gave myself a task. I would grind though the Russian Destroyers. I accomplished this in less than three weeks after researching the Gnevy that I got to when they came out. I enjoyed the new ship smell, and I crashed.

   I haven't agreed to how this game was going since March. It's just one disappointment after another, and another, and another. It makes me sad to see the waste of this games' potential. So much could be done, but it caters to the lowest common denominator. Such disappointment has lead to my selling of my favorite ship in the game due to hate, and my uninstalling of this game. I've never uninstalled, But I rarely play, if only with a friend for a short time. Not big into arcade games but was really awesome with the ships. Just not something I can play long with RNG. lol

 

Spend your time on other games, And check out Wows when new content drops for a couple days.

I wouldn't be so quick to uninstall, OP.  There's always the hope that something will change if you put it down and come back a few months later.  And you're a respected community member to boot, so you've got people who will miss your presence here even if you don't play the game.  Sure, I can understand putting the game down for a while - I was doing the same largely until the Scharnhorst was released, but if something intrigues you a few months from now, that's wasted time getting it back on your system.

It is my favorite tier 10 DD as well... I like it better than Khab but play style suits different folks..

I originally left because I didn't like how they treated customers. But since I've come back, I think they've gone in really good directions. You say they cater to the lowest common denominator. Well, no duh. Let me tell you a story. It's a bit long, but hey.

 

There was a MMO called Shadowbane. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shadowbane

I was in the closed beta of that. I was such a presence that the original devs invited me to join the company (ultimately didn't). That game was all about PvP. It was a brutal game and one of the funnest I ever played. On the development side, I kept fighting and fighting for "the lowest common denominator." But there was a very sizeable, loud minority who were hardcore, truly hardcore, players. And they won most arguments. In the end, the game was made too hardcore for the average player. It had a tremendous skill curve and if you were in an advanced, coordinated guild, the game was built just for you. But that excluded 95% of gamers. When the game was live, I remember thinking, "be careful what you wish for, you just might get it." People routinely say they want things in terms of game content, but if they actually got it, it would kill the game.

 

Take off, uninstall, play other games. I had lots of fun on various titles, but I eventually came back and I'm having fun. Which, you know, is the only thing that matters.

Sad to see you go. Ive been feeling the same way about the game for some time which is why I havent been playing it except for the occasional coop. Lowest common denominator describes it well. I too got the Gearing but ended up going back to Fletcher and especially Benson. Benson and Kiev are my favorites.

The game is stagnating again like it did this January-March, which was when I took a three month break.

 

Still missing critical game features, class balance is still a mess, battle modes are basic and boring, clans are just barely chugging along, and we stil don't have official training room support. The next month or two here is going to really sway whether or not I stick around as well. I don't think I'm prepared to just play team death match another year in vain hopes that something new and interesting will be added.
