yeah. first I'm hearing of it. it's suspected they wrecks were salvaged for scrap. 1 ship can net a few hundred K $$$$s

They're war graves.

USS Houston is there as well.  A Northampton class heavy cruiser.  Steel is valuable and people see dollar signs.  War grave or not. No efficient way to protect them.  It's pretty terrible.
