How does one become a beta and/or alpha tester? I'm curious because I'm a disabled navy vet, so I'm always home, more or less always online, and slightly less more or less always in some game. Got nothin but time, figured I could do something productive to help out with it.

Alpha ended in February/March 2015 and Beta ended over a year ago, so the tags can't be earned anymore.

Alpha and beta tests have long passed for all the WG products (so far). However, the criteria for supertester status can be explained to you by someone that isn't me.

Unless it's changed, you have to be referred by a current supertester.

My understanding of becoming a super tester.

Wait for WG next round of applications.

Be an active poster.

Have a firm understanding of the games mechanics (though high stats aren't required).

Be able to write out thoughts and opinions in an firm easy to understand manner.

They haven't done applications since last year. Past few rounds they've been picking people based on referrals from current testers, so befriending Supertesters is your best bet atm.

Trust me you don't want to be a super tester. Firstly, they never fix any problems at all, ever. Super testers have never once that I know of solved a problem before it went live. So as a group, the super tester are rather worthless to the community unless they write up an outstanding review, which, you can usually get better from EU testers anyway. As well, the ones that I have talked too and played with seem fine on the surface, no like major personality issues or anything. But they have an elitist attitude and in general think they are above the rules and better than everyone else. I will never become a super tester by choice. Another thing is that they are mostly average players at best as a group.

So, if you are an average player at best, desire to pretend that you are better than others, want to be useless to the rest of the community, then by all means, try to be a super tester.

Alpha(early 2015 to feb 2016)= early testers before closed beta. (had a lot of bugs and it was our job to find those bugs and give feedback, or suggestion)

Beta tester(closed beta, feb 2016 to july 2016)= Testers by invite, beta code or brought your way in with pre order packages

Supertester(like Alpha testing but with more strict NDA). But like Darth said above, you have to be chosen for supertesting

How would you know if it happened before it went live?

I remember the CBT Codes. People were calling RibbleRabble the WG Code Dealer since he was the one providing codes to people on Twitch.

I wouldn't be surprised by that at this point.

Was just listing what WG says are there requirements. I will never be an ST, as much as I like the game I don't have enough time to spend in the forums or game.

Super testers test not fix. Hence the name Super tester. We report bugs and give feedback to the Devs and the Devs then decide what to do with the feedback.

Makes sense. I have heard general mumblings about WG's limited responsiveness to STs, but have never been one myself.

No love for the for the Weekend Testers... sob.:honoring:

Bug reports aside I think WG prefer using the raw data from test ships performance. Which is why they actually want players of varied skill levels.

No, it's really not at this point.

I agree

No he wasn't. Rounne was never an ST. And if he ever was without me knowing, he never provided any feedback.

Then maybe I mistaken him for someone else with a similar name, it happens

Lol, wow, ok. And yes, ST was actually what I was asking about, so thanks for clarifying that for me. I still want to help, however, I feel not so good about befriending people for what would be perceived as my own ends. I can rage quit with the best of them, but I'm not a [edited], no matter how good I am in a game, I know there's at least one better than me, especially in this game(LOL), so I don't run around being all elitist. I just have the time, I game probably around 10 hours a day, set around all the times I have to work this busted body to make sure what's left keeps working. :p Even with all that, I spend a ton of time doing in essence nothing. I don't like being bored. :p

We're testers, not game developers. Are testers in the Battlefield Community Test Environment responsible for fixing the bugs in Buggyfield 4? No, like us, they test, give their inputs to the developers, and report any issues that may come up during testing, that's it.

Who have you talked with/played with that seems to have an elitist attitude? That has no place in the programme and you should report those who are acting that way to one of the folks who work for WG. (Trevzor would be the one to message).

Once again, report those with bad attitudes to Wargaming instead of acting like every one of us are elitists. I'm here to enjoy the game just like you, not here to act like I'm MLGPRO because I'm not one.

Not to be rude, but you're seriously coming off very negatively with little facts to back your claims.

Can't really talk about what I did and what happened after on the forum. Why? Well ask them about what they do when you do that. But I can private message anyone with what they did and the proof if they really want to know. And i will be making a video about it as well now that my video setup is ready again.

Then PM Trevzor with the evidence.
