The distinction between the "Gunboat" line and the "Universal" line is nonexistent. Akatsuki is a better gunboat than Shiratsuyu, on the other hand Shiratsuyu is a better torpboat than Akatsuki.

 

Same can be said for Hatsuharu / Fubuki.

 

The "Specialised" line doesn't offer anything special beyond Akizuki compared to the "Generic" line.

 All I can do is laugh because it not funny. I love the Fubuki t8 because of how the Torps were configured. Now I have 1 less trop ,longer reload. I would shot 2 rack and have 1 in reserve for the next target, Now I force to send a wall of torps. Way to  mess up a ship that I love at t8.

Niko....two thumbs up on the new Tier VIII Kagero....I did love the Buki, but the Kagero is even better....I had 104k damage in my first battle, the two salvoes of 4 torps each combined with the consummable for expedited torp reload is just awesome....loving it.....Good thought went into this change over....nicely done by WG.............................

Now don't go stealth nerfing my Kagero for chrissakes....LOL

It looks good so far. Need to grind to Shiratsuyu and Akizuki to have a better reference of the new ships, but I can't complain about anything so far. Least of all the free premium camo and free Akatsuki.

So I only play IJN DD's and I have several 18pt captains in specific ships of that line which I enjoy playing. Why should I or anyone else have to pay credits or doubloons in order to switch and re-train those captains into other ships now because WarGaming happened to nerf and f!@# up some of the best ships which I will no longer be playing? Players should have been given the opportunity to switch and re-train commanders one time free of charge into whichever ships of that line they feel haven't been made into total junk.

Neither you nor any other players "have to". You can just play games to retrain them.

I do not like that I had the Hatsuharu fully loaded, meaning all modules purchased and upgrades bought.  I am thankful for the new Akatsuki but both ships are now stock.  I can see that for the Akatsuki since this is new to me but it appears I have to repurchase all the upgraded modules on the Hatsuharu with XP and credits.  What is up with that?  The Hatsuharu should have kept all the modules or at least give me back the XP and money I spent on the modules so I can repurchase them.

If a player purchased Hatsuharu VII before the update went live, then all upgrades, signals, flags, and consumables mounted on her are demounted and stored in the depot; Hatsuharu VII plus all modules mounted on her are removed from the player's account; Hatsuharu VI together with a ship slot are added to the player's account; Akatsuki VII is added to the player's account

 

Any upgrades mounted to the ship should be in your inventory ready to be mounted to another ship. Researched modules should be researched still, unless they no longer exist after the revamp. In which case, they provide you with a credit refund.

I agree with this quote . I enjoyed my 17 point captain and worked hard for it NOW with 5.9 detection ALL of JIN DD line is worthless and I had them all . If I play it will be using the 20k torps from way in the back - I cant cap a base with 5.9 detection -

I will return to try German DDs in a few months really glad I did not invest in this game beyond the $20 for port slots

Niko, i have only ever bought 1 premium camo, and that was for my Yamato.

 

Pretty sure theres a Bug since i was allowed to equip hatsuharu's premium camo for free

Change is difficult, so I will try and remain objective and not go overboard.

 

My only concern is with the Captain placements after the update.

In my Fubuki VIII, I used Torpedo Acceleration.  With a range change of 3km (15km to 12km) it was an acceptable upgrade.

With this update, Wargaming moved my 15pt captain to the Kagaro VIII, with a Torpedo Range of 10km.

This means my range, with the Torpedo Acceleration Sklll applied, is now 8km.  

This is a configuration I would not find acceptable and would never apply to my Destroyer.

But now, I have no choice.

 

To resolve this situation I have several choice, all of which will cost me either Time or Cash.

1.  Re-Skill my captain for 375 Doubloons.

2.  Move a properly skilled captain into the Kagero retrain him for 275 Doubloons (I only have the one 15pt Captain), and grind him to 15pts again.

Considering there is only one DD that shoots over 10km, the Shimikaze, I'll have to mothball that captain for 2 year's while I continue to grind towards the un-desirable Tier 10 level.

 

When you make significant changes to a ship (or move captains for us), It would be much appreciated if you would allow us to re-skill those captains for free.

I have only trialed Fubuki and Akatsuki in co-op so far to try and get used to the changed up characteristics before taking them into random, but so far I'd like Fubuki to have an option to get her third turret back and getting the DP guns back on both would be nice. I've spent pretty much most of the matches I've played so far trying (and failing) to fend off the waves of planes that the bot CVs send at me and have had to run back to friendly ships for AA support. I know that this is technically what we are supposed to do and it is supposed to encourage team play, but it isn't always practical and I have to spend a lot of time trying to get back into position. I wouldn't mind having a bit faster turret traverse so that I can afford to get last stand rather than be pushed into expert marksman. I'm not asking for much, just few seconds off of the traverse time would be enough for me. It does bug me that even with the engine repair/damage prevention upgrade, I seem to lose my engines with every hit, but that has always been my kind of luck. If it weren't for the horrid turret traverse, I'd just use last stand and be done with it. I have yet to try my new Kagero which has taken the place of my beloved Buki, but I know I will miss the third torp launcher. I do have to say that to me the old Fubuki and the old Hatsuharu were pretty good gunboats as long as I kept them at a distance from US and Soviet DDs. I miss the invisifire capabilities that they had even without concealment expert as I only have one 15 capt between either of my logons so far and he lives on the Izumo for the secondaries. (I know, I'm not the most efficient at managing captains and I have a lot of ships of almost all tiers that I have kept for various reasons.) These are my opinions based on my first impressions, they may change with time as I get used to how things are now, but I still miss my DP guns. I know it might look suspicious with these changes but I would almost like a premium ship that essentially copies most or all of what T8 Fubuki was like, I know I'd get one and I have a feeling that quite a few others would too. I have nothing in particular against the T8 Kagero, but I haven't tried her yet either, this is more just me missing one of my favorite ships rather than wanting the changes reverted.

are you nutz. I did a few test.  MB 186 shot fired total total damage 37599 that 202 damage per shot. Faster guns but can not pen crap. So DPM  Means Crap in a live t10 battle. Did the same in a T9( battle 63/10,278) that 163 a shot.  So  that mean  you  are shooting lots of ammo and doing crap for damage. FAIL

typical wargaming,thought you were going to do something about destroyers, didn't notice any still invisible ,still spitting out torpedoes like there is no end to them, still faster than a pt boat still gotta hit tyhem 10 or 15 times, still 4 an 5 of them so much hype for that update, what a waste

I'm disappointed. I expected the anime fans to be out in force screaming "poi" all over the forums in honour of the Shiratsuyu-class being put in the game.

it's crap and you screwed many of us out of paid for paint. even worse, for some reason, people who did not pay for paint now have it, so I bought paint and no longer have it where I want, and people who did not pay, have it on ships for free they still need to grind through. thxs for nothing WG...

 

 

 

So pissed off customers,

messed up captains,

messed up ships,

who is the moron who thought this plan was easier then just giving paint credit back so we can just buy in game something we wanted and just make the new ships a side branch, then nerfing the torps across the board if you wanted to reduce torp spam. less coding, less work, less complaints... that guy should be fired, he's an idiot.

What were the Devs smoking when they did this patch????   Why would you screw with the entire Jap DD line?  To excel at Jap DD's,  you didn't rely on guns because they were crap. But you had torps and you learned to use them with Hit and Run tactics.  You stayed hidden and outside of detection range, using cover or speed....  Now, to make the game 'more fun and evenly balanced' you've made the Jap DD's into gunboats and nerfed the torps.

 

HORRID patch so far.

Despite all of the hate, I would like to give some positive feedback;

 

The Yugumo is my new love for the IJN DD. she is a very nice ship. i enjoy playing her. the guns are nice to have something useful to use while your torps reload. Something i would change on the changes however, is that only the Shimakaze got longer ranged torpedoes.  I'm a little disappointed that the Fletcher and gearing both have much better torps than the supposed Torpedo boats.  

 

while it feels like a buff at each tier, it feels like a nerf on any of the ships that got moved (fubuki is lesser than its previous version and kagero doesn't hold up to the old fubuki)  so far though i like the direction this game is going.  now can we get a little less radar and hydro? :D i need to sneak my soup into a few more gullets (torpedo soup that is!)
