Any awesome stories involving the Kawachi?

Greetings to all who see this; I hope you've been having a good day and fantastic voyages! To get onto topic, I've got one.

So, me and a buddy were heading up north in one map (I think it was Islands) with a destroyer backing us up- I was in my Kawachi, he was in his Nassau. The destroyer capped a base, only for him to find enemy battleships on the horizon.

Three of them. Two of which are South Carolinas.

I immediately tell the destroyer to get out of the way and prepare for a torp run while my friend and I move to engage. A third battleship of ours' was coming to help, but he was very close to our starting position. Soon enough the shots start flying, and the engagement well and truly gets underway. My buddy sits back with his Nassau while I close the distance, shelling the enemy with everything I've got. I take several hits but keep steaming in, and it isn't long before one of the South Carolinas and I are brawling at close range. We duked it out, firing our broadsides of AP into each other constantly; I ultimately won with slightly less than half my health left because my secondaries killed him. The good news was that we'd gotten one.

The bad news is that the second South Carolina was almost right behind him.

Without the slightest hesitation I threw myself into battle against this guy and getting my health drained. Another battleship was starting to arrive and my buddy had to prepare to fight him off; it was just me against the near-full Carolina.

With less than half my health left at the start of our knife fight, I killed the thing and moved to engage the other battleship. Sadly, my luck ended there, but the match ended with my Germanic comrade killing the last light cruiser right before the point limit was hit.

So, what're your stories?

I played six games, sunk two ships and then got a Myogi and scuttled that floating piece of junk and never-ever looked back...

It's good if you enjoy it, but she's a bad ship, like most T3 battleships.

I sailed out, Watched my shells spread like butter on warm toast, and died.

I honestly find it to fall under the trope of Difficult but Awesome. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DifficultButAwesome

Yeah, the thing is hard as hell to use with its awful dispersion, sluggish speed, and so forth, but when you get it just right (i.e. when the planets and stars align) things end up being epic. I plan on keeping it for nostalgia's sake.

I've sunk so many Kawachi's. I like to set them on fire from stem to stern but then I feel sorry for all the fires I set so I hit them with some torpedoes. Because Flooding will put the fires out, eventually.

I charge straight at Kawachis in my beloved Derzki. Their shells often hit anything but me (even at close range) and I just keep smiling and continue sailing towards them with torpedoes ready. Easy kills. :)

My memories of the Kawachi are the same as those of the St Louis. Sold it as soon as I was able and will now attack them on sight, regardless of any others.

you compared one of the best tier 3s, to the worst. WHAT?!?

That's why you gotta turn and show torp ships your bow. Never broadside in a battleship unless you're at a nice distance, and even then don't take chances with torpedo equipped destroyers and cruisers. They'll mince you.

No. Just no. Not Kawachi, not at any range, unless you just sacrificed a goat to RNGesus in your backyard. One of the most annoying things in Kawachi... or in Nassau for that matter were all the suicide runs, that I couldn't stop. Or I remember a Svetlana leisurely strolling some 5 km away from me, fully broadside and peppering me with HE. And I couldn't do anything - just watched half my shots landing short, some landing long. After probably 5 failed salvos I did sink her, but that's little consolation.

Once I fired all my turrets at an enemy cruiser that was AFK and most of my shells hit. True story.

First of all, that wasn't a comparison. Secondly, I prefer the Kolberg's RoF and maneuverability. The St Louis is agonizing in everything it does, and I couldn't unlock the Phoenix and South Carolina fast enough.

I once sailed a Kawachi on the dreaded Ocean map.  I sailed straight at the enemy the entire round but since it took damn forever, I never was able to land a single round on the enemy and got the annoying "You have not proved yourself" message at the end of the round.

I ended up in a Tier V match WAY back in Open Beta. Sailed right up to a New York, and dealt him a triple citadel hit for 40k damage, then sunk him with my wing turrets. That was the best moment, I have ever had, in any game, in my Kawachi XD

My best moment would be have to be torpedobeating 4 torpedo bomber attack waves. I took one torpedo but dodged the rest.

I had a 68% WR in 31 games in her.

Often trailing along behind the advancing fleet like the fat kid that could never quite catch up to the fun, I would find myself closest to our base when the stealth DDs showed up like a pack of sneaky weasels to steal our bacon. I would huff back to base, and slaughter the DDs at close range with guns pointing in all directions. I think I killed more DDs than cruisers.

The funniest thing that happened was in one of my first battles as a BB driver (the Kawachi was my first BB). I somehow impaled myself on the back line trying to make a turn. While I'm trying to reverse the engines a Red Umikaze impales herself right off my Starboard rail about 100 yards away. The poor DD was like, "Uh-oh", and tried to get dislodged.  My wing guns sloooooowly turned until they were pointing right at her. "B-BOOOOM". Umikaze vaporized. People on both teams were LOLing in the chat buffer. Absolutely hilarious. I love this game.
