And it was decent for a movie. The music was sad and fitted well when the ol gal was going under and the men shouting in the burning water. Only thing was they should've used a replica of the actual Indianapolis, but overall, the movie was a 7.5/10. Will be buying it when it's on DVD and showing it to my father, who also likes WWII movies.

The ending made me open up my WoWS "Indianapolis Gameplay screenshots" folder and look at how well I treat her in game.....16 pt captain. :)

Its been a while since Alabama last got to play someone else in a movie, and now shes dressed up in a (terrible CGI) cruiser costume.

Great.

I agree. Peebles should have used Michael Bays approach that he used for the Arizona in Pearl Harbor: a replica model.

The problem with this is that you expected competent direction from Mario Van Peebles.  Oy.

Ever watch Heartbreak Ridge? He was the rocker who stole the money from Clint Eastwood and was the annoying Marine in his unit.  THAT is Mario Van Peebles. He was also in Tears of the sun, he was the darker skinned sniper.

Interesting.  Must be a limited theatre engagement, as its not showing around these parts at all.

LOL.   there's literally hundreds of posts in general that have no business being here, but you pick out a post about a movie of one of the actual ships in this game....

I was very disappointed with this movie.   Cage is a really weird actor.  One year he does something that is absolutely great, then he follows it up with half a dozen direct to video bombs.    He was actually pretty good in Snowden just recently, although that was just a minor role.  The guy is a like a movie [edited], never turning down a trick.  Seems to be busy as hell because of that.  He seems to do a lot better when paired with a good director, unlike Peeples in this movie.

Anyhow, i watched Men of Courage a few months ago and it was no where near as good as even the made for TV in 1991 movie called Mission of the Shark.    While the 1991 movie looked closer at McVay, both movies skirted around the huge number of screw ups the Navy had done and the complete coverup and smearing of this commander, which ultimately led him to suicide. If you read the documentaries on this, now that most of it is unclassified, it's appalling how corrupt the Navy and US Government was.  At the three bases that received the SOS signal, for example, everyone involved should have been jailed.

Hopefully some producer does a proper treatment of this important piece of history someday.

I'll have to check out Mission of the Shark. People say it's more well put together. I bet if this film was directed by Spielberg, it would use zero CGI effects and an actual Portland class replica.
