I have enough of this. I spent the entire day working my [edited] off only to get home and greeted with a gameplay worse than a [edited] toddler trying to use a keyboard and mouse. If someone is kind enough to teach a [edited] moron how to aim and play properly, I just have to quit trying to compete against people who can shoot my [edited] in the dark without the requirement of a flashlight.

To answer why I bother posting: if someone is willing to teach this [edited] of a noob on how to get good in a short time, feel free to give it a shot. Otherwise, nice knowing you but I can't live with being a [edited] of the team that died instantly, done absolutely no damage, and just being a little [edited] that is as useful as [edited] on the [edited] stick.

Thx for confirming that I am as useful and a [edited] drunk [edited]. Are you willing to give a shot at teaching a [edited] how to play? That's the point why I posted this [edited] thread here

I rare inside look at your average WoWs player,

Again, I have to ask: are you willing to teach a [edited] how to play? That's the only point of the thread here beside ranting like a [edited] baby

What helped me at first was watching people playing on youtube.  A lot of it.  It'll give you an idea of where to roughly lead ships and such.  You have to remember that this game is equal parts positioning, prediction and gunnery.  You need to be in the right place at the right time, and able to hit your targets, in order to do well.

I particularly recommend iChase and Flamu for youtubers.  iChase has an excellent Captain's Academy series, and Flamu's commentary goes into detail about strategy and the like.  Good luck!

I seen all of the videos they got and didn't improve one bit. The only way I know how to have a shot at getting better is someone showing right and wrong of my gameplay and repair it there because everything i tried and it's not working

It was a tough and disheartening weekend

It is not weekend...it's literally tonight, exactly 30 mins ago

Maybe enable replays and post a few games? There are a lot of good players on this forum [i'm not one of them], and I'm sure they'd be happy to give guidance.

Mondays are mini-weekends, because a lot of Dunning-Krugers go 'I'm not gonna play on weekend cause bad players' and then unleash themselves in full glory when it's 'safe'. Also a lot of players may be recovering from weekend play so they're too cautious or whatever they do to deal with weekend teams.

But most important thing in WoWS besides positioning and knowing angle/etc mechanics is refining your aim so you can do good damage. There's quite a few aiming videos on youtube and the ones I used are all kind of old, unfortunately.

Oh, I'm sorry I thought this thread was aimed at the potatoes we have to play with. I don't think I've ever seen a potato ask for help before. This is a new experience...Wow A chance to make a better player...hold on I think I have something for this...now where did I put that New Player Greeting post I always share....Its here somewhere....[Digs through desk drawers]...funny memes nope...Sinksalot fleet jokes nope...Sight Safety memes nope....funny gifs nope...Ah here it is read this.

Welcome aboard sailor; May the wind be at your back, your enemies sail straight, the enemy torpedoes miss by a mile and RNG be always in your favor. Remember to watch the mini map, change course and speed and use AP on boardside ships at the water line. Don't get lost or sail alone, don't hug islands to close, don't show your broad side, push with your team, don't hang back in sniper mode and Have fun. Smoke on the water is dangerous, avoid friendly fire and don't feed the trolls. For any thing else use search or just ask.

The Sinksalot Fleet salutes you,
See you top side.

P.s. the Youtube channels of iChase gaming, Notser and even the Might Jingles have really good content for WoWs. The more you learn the better a captain you will become and the less you will be surprised. Also reading Patch notes is useful.

I highly recommend you watching the Captains Academy videos that iChase has done. If you have watched them watch them again, even after 4000 battles I'm still learning. Also if you feel like you've hit a wall stop, take a breather, go do something anything else for a bit than come back with a clear mind. Use low tier ships in Coop as a training room and practice practice practice. The more time you put in behind the guns the better you will be. I used to  always figure my shot in my head for each salvo if I wanted to hit a target. But after thousands of salvos some times you just know where to point and have the shells land.

I guess one tip I could share is try changing you scope sight. I use the one in the spoiler tab. I thinks its number 7 when you're looking at all the different cross hair mods in the game. Number 7 might not help you but maybe one of the others will, just pick one and stay with it.

 keTCSRB.jpg

I find this cross hair mod helps me line up better on ship moving at an angle.

I really hope this helps. If not look me up in game and maybe we can play together.

:honoring:

I struggle at the gunnery. I still don't understand the mechanic where I'm getting hit but ships out of one of sight, even after changing speed and course. Amazing how good some of the players are.

it lasted all through the day for me Darkness. No matter what I tried I never could get on track.

I hope you know how [edited] of a feeling I have. Being so useless and having expectations skewed from so many pro videos on FaceTube (Captain Slow joke from old Top Gear)

I tried using the scope, it helped initially then turn bad after. 1.5k battles after with the stock crosshair and I can't use anything else. I post the recent replays I had. Sniping Cleveland is...well can you help it really...? And sniping Bayern because I do NOT want to get taken out early...didn't matter at all

My biggest breakthru came when I learned to not aim at the ship per say but aim at where the ship is going to be when your shells get there.  I know it sounds elementary, but when they are in a turn etc,  it is a simplified way of understanding how to lead.  Also, on ships with lots of guns, don't be afraid to shoot at a couple of spots rather than all your shells on one spot.  It's not like they are all gonna end up in the same exact place anyway.  Other than that, know your ships role, know when to be aggressive, and know when to camp.  Adjust rudder and speed constantly.  Good Luck!  We all have bad days.

If you can, watch the replay I posted before. Maybe you can see what is wrong with my utterly horrible aiming (or skill overall)

Getting aiming down is hard if you're not one of those people who just get it. I'm still trying to refine mine, it doesn't 'stick' very well.

And yet I did better in my actual weekend than today...

Can have good and bad streaks, sometimes my Mondays are the worst days as well.

Ok, so I watched the replay of your Cleveland game (the first one in your list).

You started off decent. Followed your BBs for support, but then you kinda did you your own thing.

Here's what I saw:

1) You fired at every target within your max range. For instance, engaging that Atago at 13km puts you at a serious disadvantage. You were a T6 in a T8 game with guns that are pretty crappy past 10km. Use more stealth behind islands and such. Also, just because you can fire at a target, doesn't necessarily mean you should.

2) You were set on fire but never used your DCP. Is this normal for you? If it is, stop doing that. Low HP CAs don't really have the option to let a single fire burn, especially not for the entire duration.

3) Because you chose to engage everything at your max range, your aim was predictably bad. It wasn't necessarily you, it's just not how you play that ship.

Not sure how much this helps you, but when you are low tier in a Cleveland, it's going to be a difficult game regardless, and t6 MM is horrible right now.

It's not the first game of the day, by that time I was pretty much near the point of breaking. Also following that NC is suicidal and I know it. Launching shell over islands? Still don't know how much i can get away. Closing in is a death sentence and I literally engage anything i can reach

You should watch my second game, enjoy the horrible gameplay (pretty much rage by that time)

Edit, again: I will blame myself on everything gone bad or horribly wrong because people keep saying it's not the team but the player

1. Frame of mind - "Well let's see how fast I can die". Attitude affects Altitude. Serious. Change the mental state.

2. You look around a lot without using the RMB (Right Mouse Button). Your turrets therefore are never pointing where they need to be but rather cycling back and forth, back and force. If you want to look around outside, use the RMB to do so.

3. I HIGHLY recommend you get some type of reticle... if nothing other than a straight line as it is very, very difficult to judge that fine line between hitting and missing without a line for reference.

4. Turn AFTER the enemy has fired at you - keep track of the main vessel pursuing you (trying to send you back to port). Unless he's a rapid fire DD, hold off on your turn until his salvo splashes. You had a habit of constantly looking back, swerving, then looking forward and swerving which put you right in red's salvos. Stop doing that and time your turns.

5. While hugging a BB looks good and some may appreciate it, it works against you and the team in two ways. First, if the BB needs to turn hard to port, there you are. If you need to turn hard to starboard, there he is. See? Second thing - shots always disperse - you were so close to the BB that dispersed shots fired at him could hit you. Don't do it.

I watched the neighbors match (first one I think it is). I could only watch it about halfway through as the constant gyrations of the camera angles along with the fidgeting name tags made me nauseous (no kidding).

I hope this helps from an about average player.
