I like that fighter plane is up. Probably spotted the whole train.

The bad thing is, I've actually seen that work.  The other team often splits and ignores their own base, so by the time they figure out your team derped up the middle, it is too late for them to do anything about it.

I've seen that as well...when 1 or 2 go up the middle early it is easy pickings but when a major group makes a strong, decisive move through the middle it can work.  Just maybe not the overall best move...

If you are going to run the slot on Two Brothers that is the way to do it but the odds are still poor.

I have seen that tactic work very effectively when the opposing team is aggressive and charges hard both ways, leaving their base uncovered. Like kerensky914 was saying, they have to be very committed and charging hard, but it can work.

what is frustrating (and incredibly hilarious) when it happens are the BB drivers who want the 2 or 3 DD's on the team to "break the cap" and save the game. Like a couple of unarmored ships with 5" guns are going to be able to do a lot of good against 7 or 8 ships in your cap.

Generally I think it is a poor tactic, and usually a desperate one, but it definitely has worked.

Its very wrong to try the channel at the start of a match.

Phu and I did it only once together in coop w our Atlantas.

We were met w DD and mirrors and we pulled it off. That's the only time I can recall being reckless on behalf of the team.

I have seen it work gloriously or completely fail miserably, there is not in-between for this tactic. I've done it when I'm having a good night and want to finish the night on a fun note

There are times, often about 2-3 minutes in, when you KNOW your team is gonna lose the match. The match is literally over that early just based on bad planning by your team.

And there is always some idiot that does not want to plan or coordinate anything. They are usually gone in under 5 minutes.

Seen it work and sat at the end of the channel in my Texas and had a turkey shoot.  All depends on the ships in the game and how aggressive the other team is pushing through.....and a bit of luck.  Either way it is a fun scenario when it happens and breaks up the usual "go sit at each end and take sniper shots at each other while dodging torpedos" game play that is the norm on this map.

It works when the other side is not expecting it. But this has been done so many times, only a bunch of lunatics would do it. Happened once in that mission. Someone said they saw it on youtube and wanted to do it. Guess what,  They all got waxed save me. I died surrounded by 5 ships at A cursing the fools.

Heck... that coulda been me there, in that BB. I think I've done it twice now... once last year and once this year. It's a seasonal thing.

The bad thing is, I've actually seen that work.  The other team often splits and ignores their own base, so by the time they figure out your team derped up the middle, it is too late for them to do anything about it.

Had a team try this twice in the last couple of days- but in pve games.   The scenario inevitably went like this:

Bots notice DD/CA lemming train coming down the middle.

EVERY bot on the board turns around and heads full speed for the south cap.

DD's and CA's get crushed by massive focus fire, and torps fly every which way- decimating everything in their path.

BB's and CL/CA's smart enough not to do this, sail around for most of the match with nothing to shoot at.   They take the East and/or West caps unopposed, then run into trouble when the remaining bots gang up on them...

One memorable match of this type, the bot IJN DD split off, and went off to cap- and was the ONLY thing I had to shoot at in my CO the whole game.   And that's only because I noticed the East cap turning red, and hung back to deal with the little sneak.   Everyone else sailed off for the West, took it, and were picked off one by one by the BB murder ball sweeping up from the south.   One guy chose to run- towards the map border, and away from me- drawing them all further and further away.   I literally could NOT get into range to shoot at them, and got harassed to death by the Tier 9 CV.  ( I had spawned FAR East, so was screwed no matter what, when the team all ran middle and West)

When the one player announced his intention to go middle in chat at the beginning, I couldn't believe that most of the team would follow him...    By the end of the match, I'd come real close to succumbing to Screwititis, and "developing connection issues"

Mmm, I think leaving a flank open, or having only a few ships covering one flank is worse, and especially when someone asks for advice and doesn't take it.
