Best Class And Country For These Requirements

I've been playing the game for maybe 6 months now. I've tried almost all the lines. I'm grinding British cruisers right now, and I am on Emerald (Tier V). I feel like British cruisers so far don't have good fire power... am I wrong? My question is this: What's the best class that suits my playstyle? My playstyle is that I like good damage, being somewhat up front at least, and good speed and an at least somewhat good turning radius. Furthermore, what country is the best for that class. Also... any tips for British cruisers since I'm in the grind right now?

Sounds like you want German Battleships. You're not going to find everything you want on any given line. They all have pros and cons.

RN CLs are trash until the leander. then they get really good and really fun. For the playstyle you have described i would suggest the RN CLs, the RU DDs, IJN CAs. If you can angle well and have good map awareness those ive listed are monsters.

OP, you chose the most demanding line in possibly the entire game to start with.

While I applaud you, you may want to try battleships first.  Battleships in general will teach a lot of the fundamentals of this game very well, and you'll get to see from the opposite end some of the strengths and weaknesses of other classes - which will aid you when you take them on yourself.

German Battleships are easily the best for someone who likes to brawl within 10km for most fights. They don't do super well at range because they're so freakishly inaccurate though. I know my scharnhorst and Bayern both fail miserably out beyond 15km even when I'm dead on target. Shots just go WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Wait... now that I'm looking further, I was looking at US vs German BBs tier 10. The Montana is superior in every category to the Großer Kurfürst except it has lower maximum hit points. Should I do US BBs instead?

Haha, no.

Montana is squishy as hell compared to the German T10 with terrible secondary guns. In addition the German BB has Hydroacoustic which not only spots torpedoes but can also spot a DD hiding in smoke if you decide to charge in.

Ok, thanks. I'll start to use German BBs then.

Heya, sorry if this is a little late.

I'm gonna start with the RN cruiser question.  You'll find a lot of people complaining about the line being bad up until tier 6..  and frankly, it seems like anyone who sticks with the line seems to LOVE the Fiji.  In my personal experience, the line overall is amazing.  Consider that I have a 46.9% win rate, but my win rate in every RN ship is above 50% with Danae and Emerald (the two most maligned ships) at 59% and 57% respectively.  I honestly don't think that any of my more often played ships have better stats.  With those cruisers, and with the Leander,  You really don't want to rush into anything.  The ships are much better when you can defend a straight, or an island chain or something like that.  Use land masses for cover in most cases, and save the smoke for when you really need it.  Also look to take advantage of smoke laid down by destroyers or whatever.  The guns actually aren't horrible considering you only have AP rounds available, but you should practice using single shot torpedoes a lot.  Shoot one torp, see how your opponent adjust and shoot more torps..  OR shoot all your torps at weird angles so your opponent won't be able to dodge all of them.  The torps do the big alpha damage, but keep plugging away with the guns, that damage adds up.  If you're still not happy with that, hold out some hope, I just got the Fiji and I can tell you the guns do get better.. even if the torps seem to get worse.

Now onto your other question..  what ships do good damage, while being front-line fighters and having good agility?  Honestly, I'm gonna take every cruiser line off the table right away.. while some of them have decent firepower and/or agility, they just can't withstand being the focus of enemy fire.  As I see it, there are two types of "up close fighters".. there are "Brawlers", which wade into the middle of combat, get attacked by everything and deal a fair amount of damage.. these will be your close range battleships..  Then you have your "Knife fighters", which will use hit and run tactics to get close, deal massive damage, then use their speed/agility to avoid getting hit.. these are your destroyers.

As for Brawlers, the German BB's are currently considered some of the best in the game, but we should point out that these are still Battleships and, while being maneuverable for Battleships, they aren't the most maneuverable ships.  We should also point out that these ships are big and will likely get shot at by everyone everywhere.. they are designed to take damage, but if you're not careful they can easily take way more damage than they can actually absorb, and getting out of trouble isn't very easy, because you're a freaking Battleship.

If your looking for something more "knife fighter", I would suggest some Russian or American Destroyers.  I honestly consider both of these lines to be about equal, with U.S. having slightly more reliable torpedoes at the cost of having slightly worse guns, but I can't say too much about these lines late game, because I'm only at tier 5 USN and tier 6 Russian at the moment.

I do want to say though, that there are some gems in the other lines as well.  For example, Kongo may simply be the best ship in the game.  At tier 5 it has a 20Km range and is one of the fastest, most maneuverable BB's.  While not exactly a "Brawler", it can soften up targets from long range, move quickly through the mid range, and finish off targets at close range.

Main Gunnery, more or less equally effective. Armor and secondary armament is where the tier 10s differ the most. GK is nearly impossible to citadel at most engagement ranges. Montana can get citadeled at all ranges. GK also has the best secondaries in the game.

Not necessarily.

RN CL are tricky to use. If you don't use them well, all you're going to do is die, and quickly.

You think I should stick with the RN line then and once I get my Leander choose from there if I want to stay I guess? I'm asking bc I have not made the switch to German BBs bc I wasn't able to play today.
