Game Ends Unexpectedly

I'm getting it very often where if my team is winning really hard that the game will just suddenly end with plenty of enemy ships and nowhere close to 1000 points on the board. In one game we only had 600 points and there were 5 red ships left and lots and lots of time left.

It only happens when we're wrecking though. It's like there's some sort of trigger that ends the game early if one team is stomping. I don't have replays turned on to double check this but I'm 100% certain I'm not missing anything like the timer running out.

Is anyone else having this? If it's actually a thing (or a bug) it's really screwing everyone in the match.

If the enemy team ever get to 0 or below 0 points, the game automatically ends.

If a team loses too many ships too fast it will end .

I have been in games where  enemy lost 5 or 6 ships within a couple of minutes , they drop to 0 points game over

Really? I didn't know this. And for the OP, I often am very invested in whats happening and the score, and totally forget the timer.

Yup nothing like having a easy win and only getting 11K damage to tank your stats.

I generally prefer games where my team is loosing because I can get some damage in, a few kills, and while I may loose I will have a WTR of 2300+ whereas in games that are a steamroll for my team Im having to go ahead flank charing into bad situations just so I can eek out 30-50k damage and maybe a kill and hope for a 1200+

And this shows that you're too vested in "stats". WTR is just an attempt to quantify "skills", but has limited data to work with and makes some assumptions along the way.  In the long run, there is only one stat that shows the contribution that you give to the team and how effective you are in this game. You don't need to go to WT or wotstats to find it. It's the win rate.

This would explain it because of all the games that I remember the enemy had 0 points on the board.

It really is a [edited]mechanic though. Everyone still afloat gets gyped of XP, credits, and stats plus the losing team isn't even given a chance to pull it back for the win. I haven't been on the losing side of it yet but I'd be livid if the game just decided I lost like that. I'm already starting to rage when I win a bunch in a row without even playing a full game.

Yeah, that happens when the team is really bad.

I like to think of it as a "mercy rule".

Hello Mr. Assumption... you obviously have no idea who you are talking too.

Were you capped?

Capping out in Standard Battle adds 1000 to the capping teams meter for an automatic win.

Is it just me or have I seen this mode more frequently recently? It makes it possible for the inferior team to win if one DD driver has the good sense to go for the cap and not show himself.

It's not just you. I've noticed this as well.

I seem to remember at some point WG was going to completely do away with that mode, but too many people whined about it, so they brought it back, but with a smaller % of getting it.

However, now it seems to be back with a vengeance.

It has happened a few times for me in ranked this season where the enemy doesn' cap anything and after they lose 5 ships the game is just over. I don't remember, but I swear it says it in the pre-battle screen about it.

Many do.  I was in a game where two battleships sat in a cap taunting a hidden lone enemy destroyer who had a points lead....until the timer ran out and he won.

It can't be an inferior team if it caps the enemy base successfully.  A win is a win.  Working as intended.

I much prefer domination over the standard battle.

Standard battle is far more campy and can make for some weird situations where the game ends and only 3 or so ships are dead. Epicenter is fun in lower tiers but in high tier its a total mess. The "Bastion" mode seemed cool but was executed poorly. The enemy instalations are to high up making them hard to hit, they don't put up any kind of real fight and are just generally ineffective in creating any kind of diverse game play beyond that of regular domination mode.

The Escort mode was cool for halloween and I would like to see it in PVP but I can see how it would be very problematic.

I would like a bombardment mode, where either there is one base on either side and you need to shell it dead, or there are several small bases spread out that need to be killed or defended.

Inferior in kills, not inferior in strategy. But it only takes a couple of competent players to pull it off. The rest can act as cannon fodder.
