GeForce Experience Streaming/Recording - Anyone use this?

Hey folks, just tried to record a few games using my native GeForce Experience software but for some reason it keeps telling me that I need to use a supported game in order to do so. I've recorded a bunch of my games on WoWS this way before without issue, so I'm not sure what might be causing the problem.

Does anyone else use this to record/stream and if so are you having the same issues since a recent patch or something perhaps?

I used the GFE a while back and had nothing but problems with their recording. Especially once they went to 3.0. I ended up going back to OBS for this very reason. WoWS was one of the games I had problems with. This goes back to 0.5.10.

Shadowplay works well.... when it decides to work but the video file gets corrupted quite frequently.

I haven't used it very often, but it's generally worked okay for me when I've wanted it (5 min ShadowPlay). Part of it may be due to my settings: I use it in fullscreen windowed mode rather than fullscreen (a.k.a. exclusive mode).

The latest beta seemed to fix some issues, but I still prefer the 2.x .  The problem is it will auto-update on you out of the blue, even if you tell it not to, so I've been running the latest beta.  Seems to work fine, but it will stop broadcasting to twitch at game end and start again back in port, instead of staying a constant stream.  TBH, I have had worse luck with Overwolf.

System specs would help as well OP.

Works fine for me, doesn't record my mic for some reason so I record that via audacity and splice it together.

OP, you might want to try going into the nVidia control panel and setup a profile for the game by adding it manually.  For some reason the beta GFX doesn't always pick up the games even though it shows them.

As an update, I've done quite a bit of messing about including some work in the services.msc area but still no dice. I did find out about the native Win10 recording through the Windows+G method and that at least seems to work for recording I guess. OBS just has sooooooo many settings and things that can go haywire that I'm hesitant to try to use it again..... :P

I found GFE to be so simple to use, would be a shame if it's just broken for me.

Hope it works, but yes, this latest 3.x GFE is still BETA.  If you keep having problems, do a search for their last 2.x non-beta version and make sure you don't have any of the "beta update" boxes checked.

I found the last 2.x I had for you.  You may want to try it instead if you keep having problems.  It appears that the 2.x is no longer available on the nvidia site, so I put it up on dropbox.

I downgraded to version 2.11.4.1 after I got fed up with the software and interface update (which included forced registration). Shadowplay seems to be on the bad end of stuff nowdays. My recordings seemed to take a nosedive in terms of quality, even though I set everything to max settings. I'm looking to find an alternative to OBS as well, since the video quality seems poorer.

And if you're wondering how I keep using it, you can find a video on youtube on it.

Appreciate the DB! I'll go ahead and get that set up so I can get back to streaming and recording from the same place ;)

Many thanks to all who replied here. Been driving me crazy.......

The only thing that WoWS doesn't have is the Optimal settings for some reason, never had.

Try the "Stupid Test".

In Setting-->Games Locations set the direct path to WoWS and rescan for games. I never had problems with WoWS not being detected.

With GeForce Experience running Alt+F9 to start recording and same to finish. I found it didn't work well trying to press record button in shadow play as it was giving the same error as for OP saying that it requires supported game in order to record. Using shortcuts solved the problem.

I use it all of the time.  When the version came out, it was a little confusing at first to get it going.

Make sure that "Instant Replay" is turned on and all of your Hot Keys are set.

To update, I rolled back to the previous version and got drunk last night, then when I woke up today it was updated to the new version again but this time it works like it should. I still don't know what exactly was going on but I guess at least it works now right?

Thanks again to all for the replies here, I appreciate everyone trying to lend a hand or at least letting me know theirs was working :)

You game need to be in Direct3D Mode (fullscreen, NOT windowed). If you want to record using GFE's non-D3D setting, it needs to be enabled in the settings.

Honestly if you have a GTX that supports ShadowPlay that would be the best choice to go about.
