Gneisenau camouflage historical accuracy?

Just saw the Gneisenau permanent camouflage after unlocking her and went to check on what year it was from.

Couldn't find it anywhere here http://www.scharnhorst-class.dk/gneisenau/paint_schemes/paint_gneisenau_1940.html or from anywhere else.

Thought this was a little weird since usually WoWs is more or less historically accurate with the permanent camos  unless the ship just never had any camouflage during their careers.

Anyone know if the permanent camouflage offered is historically accurate? it seems weird that a ship that had a few over its life wouldn't have one for their permanent.

I don't know if it is that but the Gneisenau spent the last months of the war in a dock. There it is possible that she was camouflaged in some sort.

It appears to be the Baltic Sea version, but with the front/aft patches in white instead. The white makes it look better imo. I like it on my Tirpitz too :)

It's a semi-realistic paint scheme. It's similar to the camouflage she carried between late January 1942 when she was in Brest and early February 1942 for Operation Cerberus. There are however quite a lot of inaccuracies and pieces missing from the camouflage for it to be historically accurate, it's just semi-accurate.

I see, thanks. Personally the Late 1940 Baltic sea trials scheme seems like it would be more in line with Pinz Eugen and Bismarck's in game but maybe WG wanted to try and go with something different.

If Wargaming had pulled it off, her Operation Cerberus paint scheme could have looked great. Also even though Baltic schemes are kinda nice they're a bit boring, especially when you have a whole bunch of ships with roughly the same paint scheme, WG did good to choose something different, even if they only did half a job. Gneisenau and Scharnhorst are pretty famous for their part in the Channel Dash.
