  1. 1. Should WG add a kill assist ribbon as described in the post?

So I did a search of the forums for the following terms before I posted this "kill assist" "assist" "kill assist ribbon" and received no results so I figured I would ask my question.

I know when fighting in a match if I do say 40k damage to a ship but he is sunk by a teammate that teammate gets the kill and whatever damage is left on the ship. I still have that 40k of damage done. But here is the issue I am having. If I do all that work on the enemy ship and he gets killed while my shots are in the air towards him, then why should I get shafted on a ribbon just because I didn't land the killing blow. I would like to see WG put either a kill assist or a finisher ribbon in the game. The kill assist would require a player to have done at least 10% damage to the enemy to qualify for it. The person who would get credited with the kill would be whoever contributed 50.1% of the damage to the ship while the assist would be given to the people who contributed at least 10% damage.

The finisher ribbon would be given to whoever deals the death blow to an enemy ship regardless of dealing 1 point of damage or detonating the ship at full health

If you did 80% of the damage, you get about 80% of the XP and credits awarded for that vessel.  There is an award for the kill, but it is very minor and not worth worrying about.  I don't see a need for this extra ribbon.

High Caliber and Confederate essentially already do that. But to earn them, you have to deal damage to 4 or 6 ships respectively.

I feel like giving out kill assist ribbons would be the equivalent of a participation trophy.

What about missions that require you to sink people :hiding:

They shouldn't exist, all they do is create perverse incentives to inappropriately hold fire.

@OP, this suggestion is old and over-done. If you're intent on reviving such an idea, I would recommend doing some research, linking the old discussions when you create your thread, and—most importantly—explaining why you feel the previous discussion doesn't adequately cover the concept.

The fact they exist is the only reason I voted "Yes, but it needs worked out better "

Yes. This is why we should have kill assist ribbons. And make the missions be for kills OR kill assists. That way EVERYONE would be firing at as many targets as possible to get their missions done. They have assists for caps, why not kills? Also would help for people getting Kraken's stolen at the last second. If kill is for 50% or more damage, the Kraken should include this OR being the one that gets the kill. Or just remove Kraken awards?

50+% is not a “kill”;  That happens when you land the shells that put them out of the game.  If you want to give a Kill Assist to someone who does, say, 30+% damage, that’s fine.

Kill sharing is fundamental and it happens by default.

There's no need to award a ribbon for it.

Depends on what percentage of damage each player inflicted.

I believe the game would be better served by eliminating missions requiring kill ribbons.
