How's Minotaur working out for everyone?

So after watching several video about Minotaur, I'm really hyped!

It's a ship with distinctive advantages and disadvantages, just the way I like it.

Despite some serious drawbacks that I bet will hinder her very intensively in game(like the dat terrible catapult arc), I'm still excited!

I'm not a very wealthy captain, and despite I am willing to grind, I'm cannot stand too many terrible ships.

So, for those who are wise enough to save free xp and dollars, is the line worth a good solid grind?

It's somewhat easily countered. however.

If you go bow on to them, they will only hit you for 1000dmg per turret they can get facing at you.

But if they go broadside to get 5 turrets on you, or to shoot torps, you can easily punish them with multiple citadels and wreck them.

If my Chappy can do this, I can only imagine how much worse it would be against something with stronger guns, like DM.

I like it, scored 6 citadels on it in my Hindenburg after finishing off a Shima and Benson attacking a friendly lexi. It was like a pinata I was rewarded for saving the CV

I love it.  I might get deleted more often than not, but sinking a full health Yamato in 45 seconds is SATISFYING and FUN.  I did the same to a Montana as well.  Just move around a lot, and try to use a DD's smoke instead of your own for more room to maneuver, since everyone shoots and torps into the smoke.

It's a fun ship when shooting, but also frustrating when you get deleted by any other tier10 cruiser in two volleys.

If your not main target your ok, but as soon as something wants you dead, it will kill you unless you can hide.......or your close range.

Overall, it's probably the worst of the tier 10 cruisers.

Just my opinion, and I have all the tier 10's.

I like it however it is incredibly fragile.  Twice now, I have gone from full health to dead with one salvo at at 13+ Km.  One salvo from a BB will remove just about all your health so one hit from a cruiser finishes your off.  Angling helps but it only means they need two hits to finish you.

The smoke screen is so small that you need to come to almost a complete stop before activating it or you will run through it.  You have to remember to come to a complete halt and not be going back or forward because if you do you pop outside the smoke and get shelled.  The smoke screen is so small that all another ship has to do is spam into the smoke screen and you have a high probability of being hit.  Same for Torps.

This ship plays incredibly like an Atlanta with more firepower and tricks.  The shells are under-powered and have little effect at range.  You have to land 100 of them to have any effect on a battleship.  By that time you have their attention and they make short work of you.  If you get in close enough to be effective you are focused on and sunk in short order.

I realize that my observations may differ from our esteemed experts who have made the videos that I watch, however, they play this game almost on a professional basis  and have skills and experiences that an basic user like me does not possess.  Then again, I probably am not very good at the game.  I look at others win-rates and marvel at their skill / luck.

I have found that If I play it like an Atlanta, I typically do not loose credits (except when sunk early into the game, then the credit loss is pretty hard and I have to go back to the Atlanta to pick up the lost credits.

I realize this was placed at Tier 10 because of its rate of fire and tricks, but I would sure be nice to have more health.  In short I like it but it has some serious drawbacks compared to the Des Moines and the Hindenburg.

Dies in one kaboom like a DD.

Could fit a DD inside its citadel.

Can only shoot 3 guns at a time without massive risk of citadel hits.

Concealment and smoke at that tier is a fickle illusion.

Thus we've created the most island dependant warship of Tier X.

Beyond smoke and rocky beach emerges the 3 gun bow of the mighty Minotaur.

The Minotaur best proves a cruiser captain's salt, and The Minotaur will make you better.

The Minotaur might as well not have any main guns. They are TERRIBLE BEYOND ANYTHING IN THE GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The torps are good and the AA is good. The ship is very weak for a teir 10, should be a teir 7 at best. TOTAL WASTE OF TIME, THE MAIN GUNS ARE AN ABSOLUTE JOKE. If you aim your guns like you normally do with other ships you wont hit anything but water, you have aim short of a broadside ship, and if you do hit a ship you need about 100 hits to kill a cruiser by then they've blown you out of the water because it can't take a hit at all.

Or it could be that you aren't doing it right yourself.  Funny how that's the one possibility you didn't consider.

I'm the NA POSTER child for how to fail in this ship.

I rarely pubbed the Atlanta and the Minotaur has some Atlanta qualities at tier x.

I really like fast firing guns and quick turrets which is why I play DD's.

Just not skilled enough to make it work but it is fun to play, even if only for 4 games thus far.

Minotaur is my favorite (and best performing) ship in the game right now. Very unique playstyle and Fletcher RoF on a 6 inch cruiser is hilarious :#

I'm only up to Edinburgh so far so can't comment on tier 8-10, but I am having a blast with the RN cruisers. It doesn't even feel like a grind. And the tier 2-5 ships that many people are deriding as junk have been fun to play.

I have free xp'd modules though (which i do with all my ships if I have available xp on hand).

Many of the skills used by low tier gunboat DDs are portable directly across to the RN cruisers. This changes a bit at tier 6 but not by much.

Heh....

Leander is the best ship they have to offer until Neptune. Fiji is average, and Edinburgh is awful. Much of it has to do with very powerful enemies, but also little improvement over previous classes.

Neptune is a giant leap forward, and Minotaur slightly better than Neptune.
