Also, it has been 90% confirmed that there will be a new round of ARP missions in December where all the ARP ships will be up for grabs. I would advise trying to get a few mid-high tier ships in preparation for the missions (there isn't any rush, so don't feel any pressure to buy a high tier premium); and just sit tight and wait. I really liked how, instead of just doing damage, I actually had to change how I played, get out of my comfort zone to get these special ships. When I saw the next set of anime ships, I was disappointed in how WG simply copped out and made the missions flat damage quotas. When the third set came, I was simply bored of how the missions were just flat damage quotas. I wanted something challenging, something that actually made me work for those special ships. In the end though, I still got all seven of the ships, and I eagerly await for the new ships, and hope for more challenging missions.

Thats actually why i think they changed the missions to just damage. Too many people were playing to complete the missions, and not playing to support their allies or fight to win ect. It got a lot of people upset who just wanted to play the game. To be honest, any type of mission that changes how people play the game, just so they can complete the mission, isn't a good thing for games like this. Especially if you have to get a certain number of kills to complete them...

Why not just give a small boost to credit/exp/flags earned every game and delete missions? I liked the missions because they broke the monotony of just pressing the battle button until I ground my forehead to the bone. With those missions, I actually had to think of how to accomplish those missions, because the normal style wasn't cutting the mustard. When kill stealing became an issue, I simply adapted, I didn't run to the forums crying about kill stealers, I just learned how to destroy ships in one shot. There was a delay to the start of the next missions which I completed but those missions (damage only) really changed how I play the game. For the most part my stats have climbed ever since that point and I became less of a potato. I don't even play the ships that much but earning free stuff is cool and it gives you a goal to work towards. I hope they keep up these type of missions in the future. I ended up using the New Mexico and HE against everything. Exactly why they changed it. WG really cannot stand the meta that is quickly becoming HE spamming. There's a reason why they didn't want the RN line to be more of the same. I remember these first ARP missions and it was hell to earn the ships, but it also made people slaves to HE and completely forget they had AP for the longest time. It wasn't fun and people concentrated more on the mission instead of the game's objectives, which shouldn't be the case.

Those missions were challenging and getting the Kongo and Myoko actually felt like a real achievement.. which is why I still use those ships rather than their sister ships. On the other hand, the fires mission was annoying, but at least you could just adapt your playstyle to set more fires. Killing a certain number of destroyers was a little worse, but at least there are destroyers in (almost) every match.. even if they're often on the opposite side of the map or whatever. The planes mission though.. we can't really control whether we're going to face CV's or not (arguably we can if we play CV's ourselves, but then we effect queue times and such). The missions were kinda cool, but they DID need to monkey around with them.. Now all of the missions are the same though.. which is annoyingly dull.

But they could simply change mission requirements to match whatever they feel the game needs at the time. Make one of the missions to earn a couple of "dreadnought" medals.. or make missions to knock out components on ships that get sunk by other people or whatever.. the missions don't have to all be the same boring junk. P.S.: Or make a mission to survive a match while playing a RN CL... Edited October 24, 2016 by Gothik_Knight
425 [-ARM-] sulghunter331 Beta Testers 1,033 posts 14,325 battles Report post #13 Posted October 24, 2016 I think the problem with HE goes deeper than these missions, but it just made the issue more painfully obvious. Why bother trying to hit a certain part of a ship to have a chance of getting big damage rolls when you can get the same damage just by hitting ANY part of a ship and setting several fires? I missed Haruna and Kirishima due to massive burnout so I'm gonna try to get them so I can have the full set.
1 WoWsGred ∞ Members 2 posts 2,370 battles Report post #16 Posted October 24, 2016 I like the way they are doing "Earn #### of EXP to unlock prize." Seems that they are a little hard and high in the number of EXP you must gain, but we have only had two missions like that so far, and I think they are still feeling it out. Made me get demo expert before aft on Cleveland. That was back before the great AFT nurf too when with AFT Cleve actually had decent range.
