Played a match.  On my team was a well known forumite whom I have had disagreements with in the past-during which I believe I have done an admirable job of restraining myself despite a rather large number of personal attacks made towards me by the other party.  That said, I bear no ill will towards said person, even If I don't care for the way others are treated by this individual.

As should be expected, my own carefree attitude does not extend to others, and I suppose I should not have been surprised by this individual's actions in my match, during the course of which, I was the target of hostile friendly behavior, meant to impede my ability to play.

Though I skillfully avoided these machinations, as well as refraining from retaliatory action, they did not go unnoticed by myself even if I did not acknowledge the presence of this person in game.  While I obviously did not engage in dialogue with this person so motivation and intention can't be precisely known, I don't think I would be far off base to assume the actions of the individual were a result of the disagreements we've previously had on the forums.

This is petty toxic behavior and I hope those of you reading this find it as saddening as I do.

Yes there are some known trolls on the forums, but you don't need to go out of your way to shame them in game, or take unnecessary baggage with you into a match-as long as they aren't actively hindering the team, and there are admittedly some who do.

We have the opportunity as a community to rise above this petty nonsense, and here on the forums I have the ability to communicate and spread a positive mindset more easily.

While it would be unreasonable to expect all those reading to suddenly change their behavior overnight, I hope at least you will consider the situation and where we go from here as a community.  There is no question that the World of Tanks community has become more and more toxic over time as more players have joined, and while it is inevitable, I don't wish to see that with the Warships community.  So.  To those who care about the health of the community, I hope you will take this to heart and spread that mindset to those you experience the game with.  To those who don't, I'll see you on the battlefield regardless.

I don't want to sound like a broken record but I hope you did submit a ticket with replay so at least there is a record of that behavior that may someday lead to a ban or action taken.

I did not.  If highly offensive personal remarks had been made, I may have.  I just did not feel inclined to do so.  No harm, no foul- and we actually won that match.

I'm one of those people who has never touched their car horn because I never felt the need to use it despite running into many situations were my friends or family would have.

I don't give them the satisfaction of a response. if there that desperate to vent there frustration and seek attention i'd just let them look bad in front of other's.

most of the people that flame me are from OBT who have grudges against me for whatever reason.  usually over the most pettiest things possible and i just think to myself.   "these people are not worth my time"

Just because something doesn't bother me enough to warrant screaming at the offender in PM or cause me to rage does not mean I think it acceptable or good for the community.  I would be quite bothered if every single person on the forums did this to me.  The fact that it was done by one person does not automatically make it ok.

I'm usually reciprocal, if people rage at me I will tease them in return, if the enviroment is friendly I will keep my acid sarcasm for myself.

I think you already do enough in this regard OP. I remember losing a match against you with like 4 kills and more than 100K damage and even though some people on my team were raging, engaging in the discussion that you were promoting in the all chat was more interesting and I thank you for that.

You should focus on engaging with people the way you do in game instead of trying to start a movement in the forums, it tells people much more about your position than anything that you type here, as many will ignore it either way.

There is a difference between having thick skin and not accepting blatantly disrespectful behavior.

I don't care who it is, I give a o7 to anyone I recognize from here.

Agreed.

From the beginning, it felt like this game had a much more welcoming and respectful group of players involved. Threads like this one are becoming much more common though, and that bums me out too KTcraft.

Community is early stage societal cancer. Anything that erodes community is a good thing.

I've seen you bring this up a couple times. I remember reading your explanation of it before, but I still don't understand where you're coming from on the idea.

com·mu·ni·ty
noun
1. a group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in common.

We all like this game, presumably.

2. a feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals.

I make the effort to extend this fellowship to new players, but I can only control me. I've seen a lot of other people doing the same, and that gives me hope that we can continue to keep this game community a good one. Nobody is perfect, and not every battle has what I would consider a great example of the common attitude around here.

People do tend to notice and remember the loudest of the jerks more than the simple respectful players. And that's too bad.

Does that not sound a little bit edgy to you?

Thicker skin nothing. People don't make me angry insulting me, but it still reflects poorly on the community and should be squashed.

Indeed, the OP of a recent hot topic highlights this very well.

I keep my upset comments to myself most of the time. If team got steamrolled, usually "bye fail team" is all I say because didn't have time to see if anyone else knew their stuff. Being a toxin pays well--in bans.

Rarely compliment someone for defeating me. If they had to work for it and succeeded, or brawled, or made it fun somehow, I might say NS, GF, whatever.

Division with me if you want to hear my grumbling. Usually my aim's a bit off and I sigh about missing by a bit or I go "what the?!" when I get hit hard.
