What ship would be better for the Germans Teir 10, than the one and only...

Bismarck

Germany's biggest warship during World War 2. Built by Blohm and Voss, it was the most feared ship on the seas at that time.It had a lot of guns.

It had 8 x 38cm guns (15in)Posted Image

12 x 15cm guns (5.9in) couldn't find a pic for this one.  :Smile_sad:

16 x 10.5cm guns (4.1in)Posted Image

16 x 3.7cm guns (1.5in)Posted Image

and 12 x 2cm guns (0.79in)Posted Image

It carried 4 Arado Ar 196 floatplanes with a double ended catapultPosted Image

It had an overall length of 251m.

It's speed was 30.01 knots or 34.53mph during trials.

It weighed 41,700 tons standard, and 50,300 tons full load.

It's range was 10,210 miles.

It's armor was 320mm along the belt, 360mm for the turrets, and the deck was 100mm-120mm.

It had a crew of 103 officers and 1,962 enlisted men.

This is truly a great ship.Posted Image

Actually, Bismarck has been confirmed as a tier 8 ship (at best). It's actually not strong enough (gun and armor wise) to tangle with ships like the Iowa, Montana or Yamato. Tier 9 and 10 will be filled with H class ships. (successors to the Bismarck class which never left the drawing board)

It sunk in 1941 technolgy changed a lot after 1941. It would not be as modern as the Iowa which was launched in 1942 and commisioned in 1943.

It will be one of the H Class German ships for Tier 10.  Likely the 42.  Maybe multiple as they have mentioned that Iowa and Montana would be side by side.  Will be interesting to see.  Germany had a lot of potential conventional ideas coming up that were scrapped.  If they hadn't been, Europe likely wouldn't look like it does now.

Few ships of the H-39 type were laid down in 1939, in fact.

Are you suggesting that Germans should have used the H class battleships to turn the tide of the land war in the east (or perhaps suggesting that if they tried, they'd lose faster and more of Europe falls into the Communist block)?

Posted ImageDive bombers are more effective

Depends on the situation, and i use that torpedo bomber one on the Bismark as that was the torpedo bomber to cripple the Bismark.

Sounds more like he is Suggesting that Germany could have built enough to overwhelm the Royal Navy which had far more surface ships and a competant air arm.

So I assumed, hence what I said earlier. They aren't really going have much more stuff than they did until quite late in the war (say, 1943-44), hence it follows that the ships must have direct utility on the eastern front. Otherwise they are just a waste of resources and Germany falls a fair bit harder than it really did.

@Gigaton not quite his assumption that they focused on their navy makes a few different assumptions.

#1 that Hitler was practical and focused on the practicality instruments of war such as upgraded panzer IVs etc instead of weapons like the Tiger and Ferdinand (or if they would have put a MG on the Ferdinand from the start)

#2 that Hitler would have waited to attack Russia until their first mission of defeating Britain would have been accomplished (This would have required a large navy yes but if America would not have officially entered the war, Germany focused on more practical ideas, and they had converted to a FULL wartime economy from the start they MIGHT have had a chance to defeat Britain through time and manpower.

#3 If they did attack Russia that Japan would have stationed troops near the border of Russia realistically Russia knew that Japan was not putting troops near their border and pulled everything, everything for our intent and purposes, and put it towards the German front this may have allowed Germany to push farther (perhaps if they would have entered into Russia as a liberator and not a conqueror) and maybe even win.

This is if just 2 of these were true things may have been alot different but there are ALOT of ifs.

Isn't it assumed Bismark will be tier VIII, H39 XI, and H41 X?
