Irian vs. Mainz -- Which to buy?

So what's the difference between these two premium ships? Both look like Tier VIII CL shooty boats with torps. Both in the shop are around $45 (at the time of this writing). Which one would you buy and why?
  2. Clan FAAL (Fuerza Armada América Latina) reclutando jugadores.
  3. Ever since the CV rework arrived, we no longer have the odd tier CV's, and WG has stated that they might return as an alternate CV lines on even tiers... someday... maybe... possibly... and hopefully. LOL. Nevertheless, the description of Tier VII Operation still shows the CV icon as a possible ship type to play in, since it hasn't been updated. At first, I was going to ask if WG should allow Tier VI CV's into Tier VII Operation... but Tier VI CV's already have Tiet VI Operations to play in, so IMHO, I think it would be only fair to let Tier VIII CV's to enter the Tier VII Operation. As it stands now, the only Tier VII Operation we have left is Narai. Still, I believe having a CV could be a boon for the team. When playing with bunch of random people, how often do we see our team not doing the objectives properly, or too many chase after one objective only to let the transports suffer? I think that the CV's, with their fast planes, would be able to provide a quick reaonse that can hastily react to how the team go about doing the mission, thereby covering for certain shortcomings... sometimes anyway. In case anyone thinks that having Tier VIII CV's in Tier VII Operation might seem too stronk, I would like to remind that we already a Tier Vi Operation where a Tier VI CV is fighting against Tier II and III ships with barely, if any, AA at all. At least for Narai, AFAIK, the kind of ships that the bots get aren't exactly short of AA. If the aforementioned Tier VI Operation is just acceptable, then this should be okay as well, IMO. Plus, CV's are no longer the nuking death machines of the old RTS days with high alpha's and cross drops. IIRC, the reworked CV's have the overall damage output that is more or less in line with other ship types... or so I heard. Please don't quote me on that, thank you. Additionally, this might help those who are... weary (so to speak) to play their Tier VIII CV's in other modes, due to whatever reasons. Operations last long enough and have plenty of targets to go after, on top of having no human beings on the enemy team, so the reworked version of CV's should be able to contribute quite well... when played well, that is. LEL. So there you have it. Should WG allow Tier VIII CV's into Tier VII Operation? I personally say... yes. My 2 doubloons.
  4. While browsing maplesyrup I came across a very interesting graphic. Keep in mind that all this, while pulled from WoWs API are hosted by a 3rd party site. http://maplesyrup.sweet.coocan.jp/wows/shipstats/index.html After taking a cursory glance, it seems there is some pretty convincing evidence pointing that popularity, or to be more precise lack of, of tier IX is an important issue leading to a domino effect that ends up shafting tier VIII Matchmaker. As you can see through the percentages of tiers played, in the earlier days, the higher the tier, the lower the percentage of battles played, at least for tiers VIII-X. Depending on the server, within 2017 there is some point when tier X started becoming more popular than tier IX with slowly increasing percentages. On NA for the first quarter of 2019 17,26% of battles played were at tier VIII, 10,55% at tier IX, then 15,60% at tier X. Because there are fewer tier IXs, Matchmaker pulls the tier VIIIs into tier X battles more often, leading to constant complaints. Of course, this is all relatively known, but now there is some actual evidence to back up the claims. To conclude, tier VIII Matchmaker goes through tier IX, and tech tree ships are partly to blame. With the exception of most DDs, there are almost no "keeper" tech tree tier IXs. I am pretty certain there would be even fewer battles played in tier IX if it weren't for the premiums. WG definitely needs to be careful on how to approach the subject, as too many buffs to tier IXs to make them more popular could negatively affect tier VIII even more. Maybe one solution could be to provide tier VIII exclusive modes, similar to how in World of Tanks there is a "Frontline" mode where only tier VIIIs are eligible. Anyway, thought it would be interesting to share this and maybe get some discussion going .

    Y el Graf Zeppelin cuando?

Buenas.... Gracias.

    Cossack vs Haida

Hi Everyone, I'm not too savvy on the actual technical specs on each ship, however i don't consider myself a "noob" at all. My question comes to what actually decides what tier a ship should be categorized by??? I own both Haida VII and Cossack VIII. So i bought the Cossack thinking it will be a nice upgrade from the Haida. I think I'm finally making the Cossack work for me but looking at the stats of each ship i realized that the stats of the Haida are better. I usually achieve 100K dmg with the Haida most of the time, and as for the Cossack boy is it an achievement when I do. I did upgrade commander skill for Turret Traverse speed on the Cossack bringing my Artillery up by 1. Stats for Haida: Suitability: 26 Artillery: 29 Torpedoes: 11 AA Defense: 22 Maneuverability: 85 Concealment: 96 Stats for Cossack Suitability: 27 Artillery: 28 (27 without commander skill) Torpedoes: 12 AA Defense: 11 Maneuverability: 84 Concealment: 97 If anyone could explain this .. well you da real MVP. Thanks all and may everyone have a GG!
  7. Today I am going to showcase my experience in the Tier 8 Royal Navy Destroyer, the Lightning. Overall a decent ship, but my experience in it was "something different" compaired to other ships I have played.

    Tier 8 Battleship Analysis

My analysis video of Tier VIII Battleships (well, the ones I have in my port anyway: Bismarck, Kii, Massachusetts, Monarch, North Carolina--I'll add more if and when I get them) Basically I played 50 battles in each, recorded their stats and did a comparative analysis to see which one works best for me. And before you bring it up, yes I know, various stats websites do track stuff already, but I tracked some things that those sites don't track, such as the tier of the battle, hit percentages of main vs. secondary batteries, and so on. Hopefully some may find it useful, or at least interesting.
  9. So, fresh from the oven Dev Bulletin for 0.7.9 https://worldofwarships.com/en/news/development/bulletin-079/ We got the following info: Seems like this is part of an effort of WG to provide a better experience to Tier VIII ships, by introducing a mode exclusive to Tiers IX and X. Personally I don't feel this will change much, and to be honest I dislike game modes that give bonuses to ship parameters. However it is what it is, (and still in testing), let's get some discussion going! .
