I think everyone that has played Alsace and then moved to Republic wishes there was an actual tier 10 version of Alsace instead. Well.... you're in luck because they actually designed an Alsace with 3x3 406mm guns and 40mm deck plating. So how does it work.. the split? Tiers 8 through 10... Tier 8 Richelieu (original) Tier 9 Alsace (original) Tier 10 Gregory XI (after the last French Pope) Alsace hull but upgraded armor to 40mm plating and 81,000 hit points 3x3 406mm using the Champagne turrets on 24s reload (Republique); this puts the AP DPM at 272,250 (super average). Tier 8 Occitanie (region of France) Gascogne-style ship on Richelieu hull 2x3 380mm using Flandre turrets on 23s reload; this puts the AP DPM at 186,261 (below average [Zieten<->Richelieu]). Tier 9 Suffren (original dual turret dreadnought, 1904-1916) Republique-style ship on Alsace hull on 28s reload; this puts the AP DPM at 248,571 (above average). Tier 10 Republique (original) Curious about what people would change... Even though this seems like simple copy/pasta for WG, HIGHLY unlikely anything like this would be put into the game (even though it seems like some super easy to do).

Dead Eye between BB dispersion formulae - how far you can back away and still have a net benefit?
Lege_ranger posted a topic in General Game Discussion
Someone mentioned that Dead Eye has different benefits based on the nation and ship's dispersion formula, in response to an affirmation that backing away 10% more range negates your Dead Eye. Here's a more mathematical way of assessing the benefit you get from this skill in your battleship: Slava: 105 + R*5, the lowest growth with range of all BBs. Dead Eye means she's shooting as if she were 2.1 + R*0.1 km closer; without Dead Eye, she's shooting as if she were 2.333 + R*0.111... km farther compared to with Dead Eye. Shikishima: 84 + R*6.2, the second lowest growth with range of all BBs. Dead Eye means she's shooting as if she were 1.355 + R*0.1 km closer; without Dead Eye, she's shooting as if she were 1.505 + R*0.111... km farther compared to with Dead Eye. IJN: 84 + R*7.2, the lowest growth with range among the tech tree battleships. Dead Eye means they are shooting as if they were 1.167 + R*0.1 km closer; without Dead Eye, she's shooting as if she were 1.296 + R*0.111... km farther compared to with Dead Eye. Battlecruiser dispersion: 48 + R*8.4, like Thunderer and Georgia. Dead Eye means she's shooting as if she were 0.571 + R*0.1 km closer; without Dead Eye, she's shooting as if she were 0.635 + R*0.111... km farther compared to with Dead Eye. RM/MN: 66 + R*9.8, for the French and the Italians. Dead Eye means they're shooting as if they were 0.673 + R*0.1 km closer ; without Dead Eye, she's shooting as if she were 0.748 + R*0.111... km farther compared to with Dead Eye. USN/RN/KM: 60 + R*10, the average dispersion formula of the game. Dead Eye means they're shooting as if they were 0.6 + R*0.1 km closer; without Dead Eye, she's shooting as if she were 0.667 + R*0.111... km farther compared to with Dead Eye. VMF: 35 + R*11.8, the worse formula for long range gunnery. Dead Eye means they're shooting as if they were 0.297 + R*0.1 km closer; without Dead Eye, she's shooting as if she were 0.330 + R*0.111... km farther compared to with Dead Eye. Note, the R*0.111... part simply means you're shooting as if you were 1 km farther for every 9 km of range you are of your target. Remember that 0.999.... equals 1. We get these values by the following rationale: Your ship's dispersion formula: b + R*a (e.g. USN/RN/KM formula is 60 + R*10, so b = 60 and a = 10) 0.9*(b + DeadEyeRange*a) = b + R*a 0.9*a*DeadEyeRange = 0.1*b + R*a DeadEyeRange = (0.1*b)/(0.9*a) + R/0.9 R/0.9 = DeadEyeRange - (0.1*b)/(0.9*a) R = 0.9*DeadEyeRange - 0.1*b/a Ships with high starting dispersion are by far the main beneficiaries, having twice or more the starting range difference relative to the rest. They have a much larger margin to open distance and still have a net positive effect from Dead Eye. If they were previously shooting at 18 km distance, Slava can back away up to 4.33 km and still have a net dispersion reduction from Dead Eye, Shikishima can back away 3.50 km and tech tree IJN can back away almost 3.29 km as well. As such, they are still on a net benefit from shooting at, say 21 km away instead of 18 km. On the other hand, a Thunderer going from 18 km to 21 km will see worse dispersion than if she were playing as before, at 18 km without Dead Eye. Also note that Dead Eye isn't making your American/French/Russian/battlecruiser BB get less dispersion from more range than Slava or IJN BBs get without Dead Eye; battlecruisers reduce it from R*8.4 to R*7.56, still higher than IJN's R*7.2. If you are backing off to maintain Dead Eye, you're in a losing proposition when facing Slava and IJN BBs regardless of whether they picked Dead Eye or not. EDIT: Added value to both closer relative to without Dead Eye, and farther relative to with Dead Eye. Corrected values, as I had flipped the values of the former with the values of the latter. Sorry for the mistake. Also corrected the conclusions with the corrected distances, though it doesn't change the conclusions. -
This has been in my head since Shikishima came out and for all I know this has already been said or thought of, but here I go: I'm sure when Kremlin was leaked, we all thought that 3 x 3 457/460mm guns would be the peak of gun caliber and quantity in the whole game. That was until Shikishima (Yashima at the time) was leaked and was revealed to have 3 x 2 510mm (20.1 inch guns). But it didn't stop there as you know the split US BB line that will be added to the game real soon with Vermont having 4 x 3 457mm guns. With all that, I'm theorizing that "the big one" is coming, that being the German BB H-44 , rumored to have 4 x 2 506mm (20 inch) guns. I've heard its rumored name might be Wotan, Hutten or even a recycled name like Kronprinz. Thus, it could be our first non-CV/non-Sub German T10 premium. What do you guys think?

Hey all, Just curious what the community thinks is the better skill for anti-air (if you can only take one) AFT or MFAA?
