  1. Steam release/ Steam wallet

    **Disclaimer**: I don't really use the forum often, but I hope this is the right section. So... This was a real bummer, I had high hopes for this steam release, like converting my pubg crates into ships to make loads of money but... This has to be one of the worst releases I have ever seen or heard of. Like, seriously WeeGee? Just a big "NO"? Not even:"oh, we are working on solutions to integrate old users on steam" or "maybe one day" just a straight nope, not gonna happen, I'm trying to gib you ma money WeeGee, but you're not helping.

What we would like is for the community to place their feedback here in this mega thread. We are going to ask that you keep your comments, feedback, and interactions civil. Both myself and Niko will be watching this thread and moderating it very heavily... post that do not follow forum rules will be removed and sanctions given.   5. 0.5.11 Downtime Notice and Notes

    Hey Captains! Tomorrow is the Release of Patch 0.5.11. The Downtime will be the Following: The update happens September 7; preparation begins at 03:00 PT/ 06:00 ET until 05:00 PT/ 08:00 ET. Patch size is 1.4 GB Patch notes are as follows: Armor Viewer We've added an option to view the "stock" armor layout of any ship on the tech tree whether you own it or not. Use detailed information about ship armor and construction to learn what to protect, and where to strike the enemy. Top configurations will only show if you have mounted the appropriate hull module on a ship you own. To enable the Armor Viewer, click the button over the ship's performance characteristics. Because ships have complex construction, we also added an option to enable or disable the display of armor types: Superstructures Casemate Auxiliary rooms Plating Vital ship parts (citadel or [for destroyers] central hull) Main turrets To make armor layouts easier to understand, we added an armor thickness color key. For some ships, selected armor types may include additional internal armor. While it won't display in this update for technical reasons, rest assured it is there in the armor model: Internal citadel armor. Example: magazine armor for Kawachi and Wyoming Internal ends armor. Example: Iowa steering engine armor, internal decks; bulkheads on Tirpitz, Bismarck, Iowa, North Carolina Internal decks of casemates, hangars (for aircraft carriers) and auxiliary locations like part of the armored deck on Amagi. We plan to display these separate details in future updates. Tech Tree Refresher Added the following ships for purchase in-game: Smith, Saipan, Sims, and König Albert Removed the following ships from purchase in-game: Blyskawica, Murmansk, and Diana New Armor Models In our ongoing attempts to improve the game, we are revising all armor models. Our aim is to bring these models, created at different stages of the game's development, up to the same standard of detail. In Update 0.5.11, we updated the armor for all aircraft carriers and Japanese battleships. In some cases, this resulted in around 5% of a ship's HP redistributed to different parts of the ship. The improved level of detail of the inclined protective deck and ship's lines has also increased the chances of a ricochet for armor-piercing shells in some scenarios, particularly when hitting the ship on the bow or stern. Armor interaction with high-explosive shells and bombs is not affected. Epicenter We've added a new "Epicenter" mode to Random Battles to encourage more aggressive gameplay with close range encounters! Epicenter is a modified version of Domination. In this mode, three key areas are represented by concentric circles. Players who capture the largest key area are only capturing a single area at a time Players who capture the middle key area are in fact capturing both this area and the largest key area Players who capture the smallest key area are in fact capturing all three key areas at the same time. Notes: With this arrangement, the best tactic is to hold the smallest key area. You'll earn three points for the captured circle every four seconds for holding key areas (increased in comparison with "Domination" mode) This mode is available for battle on "Big Race" (battle tier V), "Strait", "Trident" (battle tiers VI-VIII), and "Tears of the Desert" (battle tiers IX-X) maps You're just as likely to enter a battle in this mode when playing on ships of the above battle tiers as you are to encounter other modes on these maps This game mode will replace the prior "Zone" experimental game mode, which was only available on "Big Race" Additional Cyclone Notifications and Information One of the most frequent requests was to increase the predictability of the Cyclone. To ensure a clear indication of weather changes, we added the following indicators to the battle HUD: Look for a dynamic icon labeled "Cyclone" with a warning that the spotting range decreased A warning and countdown timer will display five minutes before the Cyclone starts, and two minutes before it ends Maps Added a new map: "Archipelago." The location of this map is somewhere in the Far East islands in the northern part of the Pacific. This tranquil region was a safe harbor for scientific research, but now it has also become an arena of vicious naval battles. This map will be available in Domination and Standard Battle modes. "Land of Fire" map changed. Research showed this map is tricky for many players to navigate because of several islands. These changes are in the interests of making gameplay better for various ship types while keeping the map's "character:" Islands located in the left part of the map were moved to allow more (but not too much) cover for the center and the left flank Islands located at the spawn positions of both teams were reworked and moved to make it easier for ships to proceed in any direction from their spawn points slightly increased distances between islands located on the right flank to make gameplay with destroyers more enjoyable, and to create a better experience for cruisers The island in the central-right part of the map (located in the "upper" team’s part of the map) was rotated 180 degrees. This makes the gameplay balance fairer when both teams are fighting for control of key areas B and C (in Ranked Battles) Furthermore, some small islands were moved to make it easier for ships to maneuver "Shatter" map changed. Results showed it's one of the hardest maps in the game. Many elements of this map require strong skills, good planning and knowing when to risk your ship. Again, this is about improving the map's gameplay while keeping what makes it unique: Enlarged the islands in the left part of the map to make them more useful as cover Made the passages leading to the center of the map less "straightforward" to provide more headroom for maneuvering. The fairway was expanded to let players prepare for a retreat, but retains the element of risk near the map's center More space added to the central key area to increase its popularity and encourage combat between destroyers for control of this area Two giant islands in the center of the map were made smaller. It's easier to make a detour around them from the rear Removed numerous islands in the right part of the map because their usefulness was questionable. We also kept the open water in this part of the map for the sake of battleship players In Standard battle mode, bases are now placed diagonally across the map to decrease the probability of a destroyer capturing a base while safe from the opposing team's fire, due to taking cover behind a large island Added two large islands with a passage between them to the right side of the map, in order to provide cover. With this addition, players now can use a risky but enticing opportunity to reach their opponents’ positions in the middle of battle Fixed incorrect player spawn points on Strait Fixed various minor defects on: Ocean, Strait, Islands, Mountain Range, Okinawa, Solomon Islands, The Atlantic, Two Brothers, Neighbors, Loop, Estuary, Big Race, New Dawn, Tears of the Desert, Polar, Trident. Other Changes: Balance changes: Reduced reload time of the "Surveillance Radar" consumable to make cruisers more effective against destroyers -- instead of 360 seconds (standard options) and 240 seconds (for Improved), they're now 180 and 120 seconds, respectively. Increased American fighter ammo by 33%. This change makes their configurations stronger and shifts the carriers' struggle towards protecting their team. Interface: Optimized switching between the "Port," "Modules," "Tech Tree," and "Profile" tabs New British ships added for testing by developers and supertesters: Black Swan, Weymouth, Caledon, Danae, Emerald, Leander, Fiji, Edinburgh, Neptune, Minotaur, and Belfast UK cruisers, as well as special warships ARP Takao and Leningrad. These ships are not available for purchase and research, but players may encounter them in battle. Note that the Smoke Generator consumable is available on UK cruisers as well as the ability to launch torpedoes individually. Improved UI items related to bases/key areas and their circles: Circle boundaries are now displayed on the minimap in the "battle loading" screen For "Epicenter" mode only: Base capture progress indicated inside base/key area circles in the minimap Circle boundaries, previously marked with beacon buoys, are now solid colors. For key areas, the color of the boundaries will depend on whether the area is neutral, controlled by your team, or controlled by the enemy Camouflage Changes The following ships get permanent camouflage with standard economic and battle performance bonuses: Taiho, Ibuki, Kagero, Essex, Baltimore, Udaloi, Friedrich Der Groβe, Tashkent (alternative visuals),Prinz Eugen (event camouflage, alternative visuals) Removed the Gamescom 2016 camouflage from purchase Training Added new training screens: Upgrades, Commander, Signals, Camouflage, and Flags In the "Modules" tab, a button was added that launches a training video Added an option to the player account menu that redirects to the "Invite a Friend" page Audio Added an option for custom music. Enabled via the "Audio" tab of the Settings screen. Add MP3 files to the /res/userMusic folder in your World of Warships installation folder. To enable their playback, the game client should be restarted after adding them. New music track in battles Added music tracks (cues) for transitions between various battle states, like the transition from the "looking for opponents" state to the "active encounter" state Improved ambient sounds Just for fun, we added a "Pirate" voice option. Yarrr! Client Implemented mod support for the API (Application Programming Interface) Implemented log rotation for the python.log file. This helps keep any essential data that may be required when players contact Customer Service. Minor Changes and Improvements Fixed bug where the in-game browser's cache was disabled Tirpitz: armored deck thickness increased by 30mm to correct a historical inaccuracy. Königsberg, Furutaka, Kirov: secondary guns modernization is now available in the second slot Hashidate: corrected "visibility range from aircraft" parameter to ensure correct increase of characteristics between tiers; Admiral Hipper: fixed camera and ship geometry crossing Mutsuki: 360 degrees of pivot for her forward guns has been added to all hulls Kongo: hull (А) excluded due to low gameplay comfort. The new hull (A) is equal to the old hull (B) except for survivability and rudder deflection time. The overall cost of the ship development decreased by the price of the old hull (B) research and compensation to affected players credited automatically. Scharnhorst: Added forward anchor model -- this change may conflict with historical accuracy, but it has been added by multiple requests of her owners. Gneisenau (A): added two 20mm Flakvierling 30 AA guns. As a result, the average AA damage on 2km distance has increased by 12 points from 89 to 101. Corrected fire effects on US, Soviet, German, and Polish ships to remove their negative impact on aiming when the torpedo armament is selected Fixed battleship icon displayed incorrectly for allied battleships during the Introductory Mission Fixed cursor incorrectly positioned when the game was run windowed Fixed GUI focus lost in the login window after unlocking the computer Fixed an incorrect hint displayed when the maximum allowable number of signals was mounted on a ship Fixed a pop-up hint for the damage counter that was incorrectly positioned Fixed ship-to-aircraft spotting distance that was miscalculated for an enemy aircraft detected by an allied unit (weather conditions were incorrectly taken into account) Fixed issue that caused lower survivability of some of the secondary guns on German battleships Fixed issue that caused lower armor penetration for 420mm HE shells on German Battleships Added dark background to the menu in the chat screen, before this it used to be transparent Added "New" markers for modernizations and commanders

    I noticed the "middle" package for Scharnorst is gone today - it was a good deal... all 4 eq slots worth of equipment and 30 days of premium for 5 bucks more than the base package for just the ship. I snagged it, as did most of you I suspect. I'm guessing that this 835MB download I'm seeing today is the 5.10 patch - saw the video, no one really confirmed or denied it was coming today - but I'm glad to see it. So I'm just wondering - where's Dunkerque? Wasn't it tested at the same run for ST's are Scharnhorst? Is it coming this weekend just as part of the "sales festivities" ?

  9. Hello, I made a video discussing things which I think should not be in a released game. I would like to hear what you guys think about it, here it is: Note that audio is cut off from the forum contests part due to a premiere bug. It has an annotation link to the follow up part. I think the interface options are incredibly important, particularly the lobby ones. Replays as well. AND DEFINITELY MOUSE INVERSION. EU forums, Reddit and youtube comments also wanted to add the following issues: Match load times are unacceptable with how matches start. Matches shouldn't start before everyone has loaded in. Division chat. Lack of scalable UI. SLI not breaking things. And some more. What are your thoughts?

Possibly T8(?) seeing that it was slightly smaller than the current Shoukaku, with comparable air wing size (not including reserve planes).

Q: How do I download World of Warships? A: You cannot download World of Warships as of now. The game is in the Closed Alpha stage of testing. To get in, you will have to make at least 150 useful posts. That means no spam, no two-word posts, etc. The reason for this post requirement is so that Wargaming will know for certain who will be a devoted tester and who is here just because "i wanted to try new game." Wargaming is looking for dedicated testers who will post any problems they find in these early stages of development, as well as suggesting new ideas or improvements. Besides the post requirement, any previous experience in game testing is immensely valuable, especially if you've tested other games by Wargaming, such as the other World of- games. Q: When will the game be released? Q: When is Open Alpha/Beta? A: World of Warships is in Closed Alpha right now, the first stage of testing that we're going through. This means that no random person can apply and hope for a placement. It is speculated that Closed Beta will follow directly after Closed Alpha, with no Open Alpha in between. There is no set date for Closed Beta either. According to the developers, the Alpha Test is approximately 70% to 80% complete as of May 2014. Q: Will OSX be supported? Q: Will Macs be supported? A: Unlikely. From what we can see with World of Tanks and World of Warplanes right now, WarGaming does not appear to have any plans to develop an OSX version of their games. If you are looking to play World of Warships on OSX, then your best bet would be to use an emulator, or use something like the Wine-based PlayOnMac installers, which lets you install a selection of Windows-only games on a Mac. Q: Will submarines be in the game? A: No. There is a 4,200-post (and counting) long thread pinned to the top of this forum regarding this problem. For those of you that are too lazy to go back a page and click on it, it is HERE. Make sure that you set a limit for the amount of posts per page. I didn't do that at first, and the thread would crash my browser every time I tried to load it. Please bear in mind that any talk about submarines outside of said thread is frowned upon. Q: Why can't I load the Submarine/Kantai Collection thread? A: The reason why a white screen shows up every time you try to load the Submarine thread is because you have not set a limit for the amount of posts per page. The Submarine thread is now 4,223 posts long (and still counting), and trying to load all of that on the default setting of infinite posts per page will NOT work. Go to your settings and change that. Q: Will material have an effect on damage? A: Material will not have any effect on damage dealt or received. Shooting at the wooden deck of a carrier or at the armoured belt of a battleship will not change the universal damage algorithm in any way, unless the ships are modelled specifically with varying thickness of armour at different locations of the ship. In other words, shooting at a 10" thick wooden deck will yield the same amount of damage as shooting at a 10" thick metal deck. Q: What types of aircraft will be in the game? A: There will be scout planes, fighter planes, dive-bombers and torpedo-bombers. Scout planes will be used to spot and act as forward recon. Fighter planes are armed with powerful machine guns and can shoot down everything it meets in the skies. Dive-bombers drop bombs on their targets by diving upon them from high above for that extra accuracy. Torpedo-bombers drop torpedoes at low altitudes to destroy their targets. Q: What nations/navies will be in the game? A: There will be the USN (United States Navy) and the IJN (Imperial Japanese Navy) as the first two nations to be released, as they were the largest and most powerful fleets in the Pacific Theatre. The KM (Kreigsmarine (German), the RN (Royal Navy (British), the RM (Regina Marina (Italian) and the Russian/Soviet Navy have also been confirmed to be in the game. Q: What ship classes will be in the game? A: There will be battleships, cruisers, destroyers and aircraft carriers. Battleships are the big mean mother hubbards that will be the workhorses of your team. With big guns and heavy armour, they are well protected from enemy shells, but they have their weaknesses. Cruisers are somewhere in the middle on the scale, with little to no armour, medium-calibre guns and average speed, they excel in harassing enemy battleships as well as killing off attacking destroyers. Destroyers are speedy, tiny in size and armed with torpedoes, which are underwater weapons capable of sinking any type of ship. The downside to this is that destroyers have almost no armour and are very unlikely to survive a direct hit from a battleship's main guns. Finally, aircraft carriers. These perform similar to arty in WoT in strategic terms. They cannot perform well in close combat with guns, but their planes and bombers are capable of taking anything down in the game, including ships, planes and coastal defences if they are to be implemented. Q: Will battleships dominate the battlefield with their big guns and heavy armour? A: No, they will not. While the excel in long-range gunnery and one-on-one skirmishes, they are helpless when it comes to a simultaneous attack by torpedo-launching destroyers from four different directions, or something similar. Being big and slow, they are perfect prey for enemy bombers. Wargaming will make sure that the game is correctly balanced so that no class will have an unfair advantage over another overall. Q: Will there be different weather conditions in the game? A: Yes! There will be different weather conditions in World of Warships, though we know next to nothing what effect they have on gameplay. They will not be there for scenery only, though. Weather will affect gameplay in some way, we just don't yet know how. We do know that wind and sea conditions will affect things like mobility and view range, though. Q: How big will the maps be? A: The maps are expected to be 50x50 kilometres in size, a total of 2,500 square kilometres. Now that's a big killing field. There will be islands and other strategic elements, though, and the 50x50 size may not apply for all future maps. The standard size right now is 50x50km, much like how most maps in World of Tanks are 1000x1000 metres in size. Q: Where can I learn more about the game? A: The World of Warships Pre-Release wiki. Yes, there is a wiki. Most of it are scraps of data compiled by dedicated posters into a semi-complete database. It also happens to contain a lot of useful information that you may want to have on hand when you participate in forum discussions. You can access the wiki HERE. There is also an official Global Wiki, but it is currently untranslated and will not do you any good unless you can read Russian. You can find it HERE. Be Polite Please try not to hurl insults at your fellow sailors. You are all in the same boat now. If you disagree with someone, reply to his post and tell him why. Avoid throwing curses around. It's not professional, and it will certainly not earn you a shining spot in this community. Do Not Troll Nobody likes trolls. Maybe except for trolls. We like to keep our forum clean, friendly and efficient. If you troll, you will encounter severe resistance. Possibly even a ban. Throw out a good joke every now and then to keep the smiles up. Do anything you want as long as it complies with the rules. But please, do not troll. We do not like trolls, even if they offer free bacon. ~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~ BASIC KNOWLEDGE This section contains basic and interesting information regarding different the different elements of the game. Most of this is taken from the Q&A section on the wiki. This is for people too lazy to browse the Q&As themselves. Many thanks to Ahyao for letting me use his Carrier Aircrafts thread as reference for the Aircraft section. AIRCRAFT Tier 10 aircraft carriers will have the ability to use jet aircraft. Carriers may upgrade their aircraft by switching to different presets or models of aircraft. There will be premium aircraft available, similar to premium shells in World of Tanks. Aircraft performance will be affected depending on the experience level of the squadron leader. Squadron leaders may be transferred to different carriers. There will be a maximum of 10 squadrons. Several squadrons of bombers (both dive and torpedo), with around 50 to 60 aircraft in total will be sufficient to sink most any ship. Planes will return to the carrier when out of fuel. SHIPS Players will be able to name their ship from a list of pre-made names. There will be upgradeable torpedo bulges for upgraded torpedo protection. Ships will be upgradeable through the use of presets that upgrade all aspects of the ship at one time. Kill marks will be attained on your ships as you progress through the game. There are over three hundred parameters for ships, including HP, armour, speed, etc. The timeframe for which vessels will be in the game will range from the 1900s to the 1950s. There will be around 100 different ship classes in the game at release. There are around 200 in development. The 90,000-ton H-42 battleship design is hinted to be in the game, though it was stated that 80,000 tons is limit. Now unlikely. The German battleship line will most likely stop at the H-41. Ships can break into a maximum of 4 separate sections upon destruction. GAMEPLAY There will be "different kinds" of gamemodes, but only one on release. Destroyers will be used in groups. For example, one team slot will hold four DDs driven by four players. The maximum battle time is 20 minutes. Victory conditions will be similar to World of Tanks; all enemies destroyed or base capture. Teams may have an uneven number of ships depending on what types of ships there are in a team (e.g. BB, CL). The game will register hits below the waterline. There will be a HP bar and a buoyancy bar. If either one of them hits zero, the ship will sink. The probability of causing fires is much higher if using HE shells. Crashing into icebergs or running aground will cause HP loss and the destruction of your ship. Water pumps may be implemented as optional additional equipment, probably similar to a gun rammer in WoT. Well, the title says it all; it's a blog, and developers frequently post updates about the current status of World of Warships, as well as a bunch of other interesting information.   14. Hello everyone, as many of you are aware as we reach the ends of 2013 that little sign "Alpha coming soon" next to the giant picture of battleships just isn't holding value anymore. There's little official news from wargaming itself out there and were all seriously devoted to helping you here, but you need to tell us whats happening over there and what we can expect. I love the world of series and warships will by far be my favorite, but even though most of the time i don't sign in, i'm constantly reading articles and posts and comments and keeping up with the news. But all that news is other fans trying to pass the time before we get actual dates or news from wargaming of what is happening. I understand how much effort it takes to make this game but don't short yourselves, there is plenty of us here on the forums willing to help and do whatever we can. All i'm asking is to just tell us whats going on and keep us in the loop more. Were all here to make this game the best it can be but for now were sitting here just making up topics to keep our minds off our lack of knowledge as to how the game is fully doing.
